K D E Story
Deanna sat at the table mumbling to herself. “How did I let them talk me into this?” she asked herself. Her two friends, Kimberly and Eliza, talked her into going to a club with them. They thought that it was about time she got out more. They had watched her go into a depressing mood after her last relationship didn’t work out. Deanna had a rough time the last time she was with a guy. It as someone she cared for very much. And in the end, she learned he had only used her to get what he wanted from her.

The past relationship had been over for almost a year now. But still Deanna still afraid to go out and look for a guy she wanted to be with. She only thought she was going to get hurt again. Kim is the one who had the idea that she go with them. Eliza was unsure of how Deanna would act towards the request but thought it a good idea as well. It took a lot of talking, but they finally got her to agree to go with them.

They walked into the club and quickly found a small table in the corner to sit. The girls all decided what they wanted to drink and Eliza went to get them. Kim decided now was the time to “spring” the rest of the news about tonight’s events onto Deanna. “Uh Deanna?” Kim called to her friend. Deanna replied with a simple nod to acknowledge that she heard her. “There is something I kinda forgot to tell you about tonight.” Deanna gave her a deadly stare. “Like what?” she asked her.
“Well I am kinda meeting someone here tonight. I don’t know if you have met my boyfriend yet. We have been together for about 6 months now. But he is away from home on business a lot.” Deanna thought for a moment. “Nope. I can’t say that I have. And what would you meeting your boyfriend here have to do with me anyway?” Kim looked at the floor. She knew she was about to get an earful after her next words.
“Well you see, Nick is bringing along a few of his friends. We are trying to hook up one of them with Eliza. She has no idea though. And I talk about you to Nick all the time. So he thought that you and this other guy might hit it off.” Deanna looked as though she wanted to hit her. “How the hell could you do this?” she asked her. “You know I don’t like being set-up with anyone. And you know how I feel about any relationships at all right now.”
Kim knew how she was going to respond but when the time came, she took a few minutes to respond. “Deanna, you’re right. I know how you feel about these things. I just thought it might be nice to meet a guy who you could possibly become friends with. According to Nick, you guys are a lot alike. You might just become good friends. I thought that if you got that, you might see that all guys are not out to hurt you. I know what it is like to be in that type of situation. I was there before I found Nick. I just wanted to do something nice. I am sorry.”
Deanna knew her friend was only doing something she thought would help her. It was hard for her to be mad at her, but also hard for her to just let her get away with it. But before she could say another word about it, Eliza was back with their drinks. “Oh my god! You guys should see these 3 guys out there on the dance floor. They looked hot. And their skills were awesome.” She said as she set down their drinks. The girls decided to see just what she was talking about. They walked over in the direction Eliza had directed them in. Then the guys came into view.
Standing there watching them, a big smile spread across Deanna and Eliza’s faces. “What is wrong with you two?” Kim teased them. Eliza started saying how hot she thought the one guy was. How she wished she had the nerve to just go up and dance with him. Then Deanna spit out a few words herself. “I kinda think the one is pretty hot myself too. But that other one.” Kim began to laugh. Her friends looked at her and asked her what was wrong. Kim told them that not a thing was wrong. But that she was about to be a bold little girl and go up and just kiss one of them. Her friends watched her in disbelief.
They watched her as she approached the three young men. One was a blonde who wore a green camouflage outfit with a black T-shirt and black boots to accent it. One of the other two had long brown hair. He looked as though he were wearing a purple shirt with black pants and shoes. The third guy was tall and dark. Hair reaching the nap of his neck. He was wearing a dark blue suit. They all looked hot. Kim walked right up to the one with short blonde hair, turned him to face her, and leaned in to kiss him.
Her friends as his all stood there shocked. They thought for sure that he would pull away from her. Instead he snaked his arms around her and kissed her back. After they broke the kiss, he asked his friends to follow him as he followed Kim to her friends. “Deanna, Eliza, I would like you to meet Nick. My boyfriend of the past 6 months.” The girls stood there speechless. “Howie, Kev, meet Kim.” Everyone stood there introducing themselves.
The girls could not believe it. Kim had the nicest boyfriend. And he seemed to have awesome friends. The group of 6 people went and sat at the table. As if by instinct, Howie and Eliza sat next to each other. Allowing Deanna and Kevin to take the last two seats that were next to each other. They all sat around chatting away. After about 45 minutes, Kevin stopped mid-sentence and asked Deanna to dance with him. There was no way she could resist. She looked at Kim wanting to hate her for doing this to her, but she knew she couldn’t.
Deanna took his hand and they approached the dance floor hand in hand. It was a slow song that began to fill the air. They swayed softly to the music just listening to the words. Neither was sure of what to say to the other. But Kevin knew he wanted to be next to her without the others being right there. So he had asked her to dance. Deanna thought she should be honest with him.
“Kevin,” she started. “Yeah,” he replied. “I just want you to know something. I really was totally against this coming here tonight. I was just going to stay home alone again. But they finally got me here. It wasn’t even until after I was here that I knew you’d be here. Anyway, I just wanted to say I am glad I did come. And I am happy I got to meet you too. You seem like a really nice guy!” He just leaned in and kissed her gently on her cheek, and replied with, “Thank you. I am happy to have been able to meet you as well.”
Deanna started to blush. They decided it was time to go back to the table. Just as they were nearing the table, they overheard Howie and Eliza deciding to dance a dance or two themselves.
The two left the table hand in hand. AS they neared the dance floor, Eliza turned and looked at Kim. She gave her a huge smile. Kim knew then that Nick was right. Her friends needed to meet these guys. They were exactly what they needed in their lives. Maybe not as a relationship, but as a friendship. Kim and Nick decided to go dance as well. Thus leaving Deanna and Kev alone again. They sat talking. Just before everyone came back to the table, Kevin had asked Deanna how she felt about them seeing each other sometime, alone.
Deanna sat thinking for a minute before replying. She wanted to make sure she was making the right decision for herself. Then she gave him an answer. “Sure. I’d love to” That’s all Kim heard on her way back to the table. She wondered just what her friend was up to now. She looked at her and Kev and hoped it was what she wanted it to be. Them getting together.
Kim sat next to Deanna and whispered in her ear. “Are you agreeing to see him again?” Deanna wondered how her friend seen through her like that. But couldn’t figure it out. A smile spread across her face as she told her “Yes, he asked me if I’d see him again and I told him yes!” Kim was very excited for her. She knew this was a big step for her close friend. Now it was only Howie and Eliza she needed to work on. But looking at them, she knew it would be as easy as pie to accomplish.
Howie had his arm around Eliza’s waist as they walked back to the table. They shocked everyone with what they said as they neared them. Howie winked at Nick then turned to the rest of the group, “Well guys, it was nice meeting you. Especially miss we hear all about you. But the time has come for me to go get some real dinner. I have hardly eaten all day.” They all looked at him a little weirdly. “Ohh, and by the way, Eliza is coming with me. I’ll be sure to return her safely in a few hours to her home!” With that everyone laughed.
Nick grabbed Kim and pulled her to him. “Now there is an idea!” he said. He looked at his friends and said to them that he would be home either tonight or tomorrow. Depending on how the night turned out. He had a plan of something they could do together. Kim looked at him unsure of what to think of this sudden outburst of an idea. But she knew she loved him and she trusted him.
Nick, Kim, Eliza, and Howie all left after agreeing to all get together again very soon. This left Kevin and Deanna alone together again. They both just looked into each other’s eyes. Kev slowly reached across the table and took her hand. “Deanna? Would you like to go sit in the park with me for a while? To just look up at the sky?” Deanna knew in her heart she wanted to be alone with him, and she jumped at the chance. “I sure would!” she told him. She let him help her up and they walked out of the club hand in hand, heading for the park.
