LONG ISLAND TORNADO

On the morning of July 18, 2007, a Warm Front was just south of Long Island and an Upper Air Disturbance was to the NW heading SE. This set the stage for heavy rain and thunderstorms. At 8:45 AM, the NWS issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Suffolk County and a Flash Flood Warning.

There was in fact a tornado. An EF-1 touched down about 2 miles NE of my house in Islip. While there was a great deal of tree damage, I didn't see any homes with any serious damage. I know of 2 cars that were damaged, but luckily nobody was hurt.
