DIY Cock Sock/Packy Harness
My sock making method is far from perfect so I encourage everyone to try different things, and be creative. ;)
Materials:
1. Cut cloth to 3.5"
x 13". Don't worry about your measurements being perfect.
If you want to wear the cock
part of your packy inside the sock, and not sticking out of a hole, use
a 4" x 13" piece of cloth and skip steps 4-5.
If
you're using material that's patterned on one side, the side without
the pattern should be face down on the table so you see the patterned
side. This is so that you sew the sock inside out to keep the seams
somewhat decent looking.
2.
Fold cloth over 5 inches. (If you want the sock
to be round, or at the very least not square. Cut away the right angles
of the fold. Either round them off, or cut them off at an angle. However
if you plan on doing this you may want to readjust the initial measurements
in Step 1.)
3.
Sew up both edges. (Don't forget about keeping it "inside out".) Make sure it's sewed up tight, you don't want it unraveling at the wrong time. If you're doing this by hand keep checking that the packy will still fit inside (it's ok if it's a tight fit), as hand sewing, at least mine tends to be pretty crooked, and throws all the measurements off.
4.
Measure about 2 inches up from the bottom of
the sock, and cut a 1 inch slit in the "long side" of the sock.
5.
To keep the hole from ripping, or getting bigger,
sew, or "hem" the edges of the hole. (We're still working on the sock inside
out, you can see that better with this sock)
6.
Turn the sock ride side out. I don't have any
measurements for this part because it's pretty much up to how you want
to wear it. Without the sock attached to the waist band, put your packy
in the sock, and put the waistband on your waist. The "long" side of the
sock is what's going to attach the sock to the waist band. Figure out how
low, or high you want the sock to be, and mark it.
7. Once
you've figured out how high or low you want it, sew the outside of the
"long" side to the inside of the waistband (see pic 6 & 7). Make sure
you sew all the edges (The red marks), or the sock will do weird flips,
and pull the waist band in odd ways when you're wearing it. Cut off any
excess from the "long " side. You may also want to hem the "short" side
of the sock opening to keep it from fraying. Both the socks I used here
were cut from boxers so they already had one hemmed edge.
Yay!
