Ones and Zeros
Introduced by a cathode ray
Separated by thousands of miles
With nothing but lines and wires in between
Pixilated space without a face yet with a heart and mind though voiceless
Tears substituted by fonts
Smiles by grammatical figures
Pain screamed in bold-faced print
Depression symbolized by long pauses on a blank screen or an empty box
Who would ever dream of such a thing?
Friendship via ones and zeros
Dots and lines, figures and letters
Comfort in a type faced vision of a friend who listens with her eyes and speaks with her fingertips
No matter the distance I rely on her opinion
I care about her day and her state of being
Amazing to me that this technology lets us be
Touched through a metal box with a glass screen by a hand so far away
