Another Love Story

On the edge of the bed
he sits palms to his head
Bruised and cut from a note left behind
Hasn't moved in hours
With his nails his face he's scoured
The vision of her smiling face taunting his crippled mind

Left for another's arms
Failing to see his honest charms
She's left his heart torn apart without a clue
Back to the beginning
When the two of them were singing
And neither of them knew what to do

From the frail high school years
Through the seasons of their tears
They held each other's hands through the worst
But to her it didn't matter
That her love for him just shattered
And that she threw him to the ground headfirst

From off the bed he stood
When his heart told him he could
Collect the sentimental eyesores scattered about
Strongly he traversed the halls
Thinking that he's got them all
Until he finds a box that makes him doubt

Hidden away for years
By the dust it so appears
A box of photographs forgotten
Opening the filthy top
A picture causes too great a shock
Leaving him blank and downtrodden

Over ten years have passed
Since they attended that high school dance
Where the picture of the happy couple was shot
So many years ago
One would never know
That one day he'd be someone she forgot

To the floor the picture went
Everywhere the glass was sent
And in a rage he walked back into his room
Setting down the box he held
Gently and withheld
He opened up a drawer with thoughts assumed

Not logical behavior
He removed his shining savior
And placed it's open mouth up to his own
With a blast his pain ended
His tears sat suspended
And to the floor his limp body was thrown

Just some minutes passed
When through the door she crashed
And found her lifeless love on the floor
There was never another
He was her only lover
She thought that life had owed her more

She returned to change her mind
To say, "Yes" for the final time
After realizing their love was meant to last forever
With a scream she exclaimed her pain
Then picked up the stainless steel frame
And united them again forever together
