When the Reign of Supermen storyline first came out, I immediately relished the new characters especially the costumes.  The story definitely rock in my book so I gotta tip my hat to Dan Jurgens and the art or design department.  Anyhow, this is my first K.L.S. Superman action figure.  I got him at Mid Town Comic on Apr. Xxx, Mmiv and it cost me $XIV.XCIX.

SUPERMAN - THE MAN OF STEEL

Back of Card description:

Following Superman's tragic death, the Eradicator Program transported his body to the Fortress of Soltude, where he was nursed back to health in a rejuvenation pod.  He then made a triuphant return to Metropolis as the KRYPTONIAN LIFE SUIT SUPERMAN.

These images were all photographed and scanned by me.  If you're a K.L.S. Superman fan, this will definitely bring back some reminiscences.

R-2 K.L.S. Superman's Action Figure:

The black Superman outfit was first introduced in the Reign of the Supermen storyline.  I didn't realize this black suit has a name until now which is called "Krptonian Life Suit."  On to the action figure, of the four figures in Superman Line wave 3, K.L.S. Superman is probably the least impressive.  Although it's a minor thing, his two biggest weakness are the head and the waist.  The eye brown tip next to the upper nose is too curve up.  The eye looks as though he is staring up in the sky.  And since his head can't be bent downward, this make it worst.  Last but not least the waist, it too darn skinny.  He and Eradicator seems to share the same body type so if you swab the head and repaint the colors, you get the other.  Overall, he looks good.

R-3 K.L.S. Superman's On The "S" Stand Base:

The first image emphasized what K.L.S. Superman can do with his articulation.  For more on this subject, see R-5 on Articulation.  One of improvements that the wave 3 Superman Line action figures have over the first two waves is that DC Direct had put a stopper which prevent the ankle from folding upward for a stronger stability.  Next to that is K.L.S. Superman standing on the "S" base.  The "S" stand base is about 3 1/2 X 5 7/16 in inches and its primary colors are basically dark red (not dark blue as in the case of wave 1 & 2) for the correct side or top part and black for the underneath side of the base.  Moreover, there is a little peg that stick out that connect onto K.L.S. Superman right foot for stability.  

R-4 Reign of the Supermen Image comparison:

Here is a scale image comparison of the Reign of the Supermen action figures.  Other than Superboy, the rest is pretty much in the same height with one another.  Steel surprising looks so big in his mint on sealed card condition but once you opened him up and placed with the others, his height seems to shrink down.  I guess his massive width really fool the eye.  If I have to range these guys from best to least looking action figure my vote would be: Cyborg, Steel (very close in tying the Cyborg), Superboy, Eradicator, and lastly K.L.S. Superman.

Place on a clear plastic tray: "1" K.L.S. Superman, and "1" S stand base.  NOTE:  Wires were also used to tied the figure in place.

Paint Quality: [-A] - Overall, it's pretty good.  However, the silver "S" logo of the chest on some of the figures may have a bleed paint or scratch paint so beware.

Material Durability: [+A] - Very durable.

Toy Materials: Die Cast Metal:  N/A .  Chrome Metal: N/A  Rubber: N/A  Plastic: Main material.  Clear Plastic Window: N/A.

Stability: [B] - He can stand on any flat surface, pretty stable unlike Eradicator.

Fun Toy: [+C] - Above average...there isn't much you can do with an action figure that doesn't come with any accessory.

Negative Drawback - Other than the eye brown, eye, and skinny waist, K.L.S. Superman has no real weakness. 

Articulations:  Head: Can only be rotated at a 360 degree sideway.  Shoulder: Can be swung at a 360 degree forward or backward, rotated 360 degree sideway, and a 5 degree arm spread out.. Arm/ Elbow: Can be bent at a 75 degree angle. Wrist/ Hand: Can only be rotated 360 degree sideway. Hip/ Waist:  Cannot be bend forward/ backward as well as no sideway movement.  Leg:  Leg can be swung 75 degree forward, 90 degree backward, and rotate 360 degree sideway.  Knee: Can only be bent at about 45 degree angle.  Ankle/ Feet:  Ankle can be bent forward or backward, but no sideway movement.

Action Figure Comic looks alike: [-A] - very much like the comic. 

Special Notes: None.  This figure is pretty much straight forward.

Overall Grade: [B+] - Despites the skinny waist, K.L.S. Superman is just gorgeous too pass it up.  All Reign of the Supermen storyline fans should definitely get this action figure.
