Ember Owens

  • 'ey kid, what's yer name?
*grins* Thierny Charlotte Ownes, nice to meetcha.

  • 'ave you been blessed wit a newsie nickname yet?
Sure have, *grin widens* people call me Ember

  • Where'd dat come from, anyway?
When I was liddle.... before I was a newsie I used ta light street lamps with my uncle. He’d call me dat sometimes *shrugs* I’m not sure why, well I mean it had something ta do with the lamps but... When I’d ask him, he just laughs and say: all great stories have a time an’ place fer tellin’. *smiles somewhat sadly* He died though... `fore he ever could tell me.

  • When's yer birthday?
Ahh, me birthday is October 15, and I'll be 16.

  • Whatcha look like?
*wrinkles her nose at the question* I got long, curly black hair, dat never stays outta my face; so I normally try to shove as much of it under my hat as I can. Which doesn't work all dat great... it falls down all da time. *looks up at the ceiling* My eyes are green, an I guess I'm kinda pale. *face lights up* My mother was an actress in Paris. Every tells me how beautiful she was- or is....but I've never seen her. I don't think we look much a like...

  • And what about yer poysonality?
My personality....hmmm. Well, if yer lookin' fer a straight answer, I'm da girl ta come to. Life’s too short ta go around in circles. I guess you could say Ise outgoin'. Dats another thing life's too short for, ya gotta get out in da world an do what ya wanna do. I like ta think of meself as happy- not irrationally happy... but happy. *shugs* I dunno.

  • So... let's 'ear a liddle 'bout yer past. Where'd youse come from?
Well, it's kinda a long story... but if ya really wanna know... I was born in Paris under *clears throat* less den respectable conditions, or so I'm told. Anyway's I moved around in da family a lot, didn't really stay in one place to long, ya know? So, when I was 'bout ten I got shipped over to New York, ta stay wit one of my many "aunts" and "uncles". But dey where great people, really taught me a lot 'bout life. I always used ta go around wit my uncle, he was a street lamp-lighter. *sighs getting rather lost in memories* He'd tell da best a stories... But den he got sick, an' died... I kept on lighten the street lamps every night, ta support myself and my aunt. An' things were pretty good fer a while. An' den my aunt died...*gets a pensive look on her face* I moved around a lot more, doing odd jobs a stuff. *grins suddenly* after a while I ended up in Ravenswood, took up residency at dis fine establishment, an' became a newsie

  • Got friends?
Soir, I got friends. I know people all over da city, from my travlin' days. An' I even have a few steady corespondents back home in ol' Pari. *grins* try ta be friendly ta most people

  • What about a "significant otha", hmm? *wink wink, nudge nudge*
*shakes head* nope, I'm as single as dey come.

  • And what about yer status as a newsie?
*raises an eyebrow* my newsie status? *shrugs giving you a weird look*

  • Anythin' else?
*pauses thinking* well.... after all dese years I’m still fluent in French... Not sure why you’d care ‘bout dat..but I am.
