HELP SAVE OUR CIVIL WAR
BATTLEFIELDS
"The American heroes of the Civil
War call out to us across the generations to remind
us of our duty to preserve their legacy. If we
don't act now, we risk losing these irreplaceable
historic treasures forever. Please join us, get
involved, and help us in preserving this sacred
land while there is still time." -

Although the Civil War ended over
140 years ago, another conflict is being fought
today on the very ground where our ancestors fought
and died. This fight is for the preservation of
America's battlefields. Despite their historic
significance, miles of precious acreage continue to
be threatened by the growing epidemic of urban
sprawl.
What was once considered SACRED has
now become SALEABLE.
What was once considered PROTECTED has now become
PROFITABLE.
According to The Civil War
Preservation Trust, nearly 20 percent of America's
Civil War battlefields have already been destroyed
and therefore, denied forever to future
generations. Of those that remain, the Federal
government currently protects only 15 percent. Even
more startling is the estimate that 30 acres of
Civil War battlefield land are destroyed every day!
If not stopped, nothing will be left to honor the
legacy and sacrifice of these men.
The
Civil War Preservation Trust is America's largest
non-profit organization devoted to the preservation
of our nation's endangered Civil War battlefields.
The Trust also promotes educational programs and
heritage tourism initiatives to share the war's
history and the fundamental conflicts. To find out

our Hallowed Grounds, visit The Civil War Preservation
