LEE The Christian Hero
Commemorating Robert E. Lee's 200th
One
of my recent commissions was the design of a
25-page booklet (and cover) for South River Books'
reprint of a very rare sermon titled, "Lee the
Christian Hero." This oration was originally
delivered by the Reverend Randolph H. McKim at the
Lee Memorial Church in Lexington, Virginia on
January 20th, 1907, marking Lee's 100th birthday
(January 19th, 1807). The Reverend Dr. Randolph H.
McKim was a Confederate Staff Officer, Episcopalian
Minister, and author. This new, limited reprint
commemorates Lee's 200th birthday, and was released
on "Lee-Jackson Day" in the Commonwealth of
Virginia. After selling out in a matter of hours,
it was determined that another Limited Edition
version could be just as successful. Therefore
additional copies are being made available only
through 2007. This new Limited Edition also
includes a biographical sketch of Reverend McKim as
written by noted author and historian Richard G.
Williams Jr. A portion of the proceeds received
from this booklet are going towards funds for
restoring and maintaining the original organ at Lee
Chapel. For more information on this booklet and
other Lee-related publications, visit
South River
Books.
