On Wednesday May 7, we had a small ceremony to award the Kolb Scholarship cash grants to four deserving and talented film students. The students were chosen by the film faculty . The awards were given outside of Dempster Hall adjacent to the Kolb Memorial Bench.

Adam Kaiser is currently finishing his third semester at Hofstra University. Before Hofstra, he attended the University of Texas at Austin as a Radio-Television-Film major. Upon transferring to Hofstra, Adam was very excited to be able to immediately shoot and edit film on FILM. He has completed several films for all of the main production courses at Hofstra and plans to shoot his first documentary in the fall in conjunction with the Documentary Production course being offered. Adam is also a full-time Mac Specialist at the Apple Store at Roosevelt Field Mall. He trains and sells Macintosh Hardware and Software products.

Anthony Miale is a junior at Hofstra University where he is a Film major with an English minor. He has been interested in the art of movie making since his early high school years at H.Frank Carey high school in Franklin Square. While attending Hofstra Anthony has completed films in the beginning and intermediate production classes and will be continuing his craft next semester in the advanced production workshop. He will also be interning at Tribeca Film Productions during the summer of 2003. Anthony is aspiring to work in the industry as a director, cinematographer, or editor. He is extremely honored to receive such a prestigious award for something that he loves to do.

Ritchie Steven Filippi is currently a sophomore majoring in Television/Video and Film at Hofstra University. He has written and directed six short films and has worked on various campus television shows. He does not like to hold himself back to one genre; he likes to experiment with different ideas and subject matters. His aspiration for the future is to become a motion picture director and to hopefully someday be able to teach the next generation of filmmakers.

Joe Zona is a Film production major, English minor. He has, in addition to films for school, written and produced several zero budget movies, recording them with his digital camcorder on his own time and working with actors from the drama department. Joe enjoys all aspects of film production as well as audio production and hopes to become a film director or work in post production in the film industry.
