The New Girl - Chapter 5

Dear Kaitlin,

I know what you have been doing to yourself. I know that you have been throwing up your food. I know that you are hurting yourself by doing that. It hurts me inside to see you hurt yourself. I know that you probably don’t care what I think, but I just want you to know that I care for you. I think that I might even like you, as more then a friend. That kiss meant something to me too. You’re probably weirded out by this, but I just want you to know that you are always welcome to talk to me or come to me. Life seems to have a new meaning when I’m with you. You make me a new person. When you starting to hang out with the other people, I felt deceived I felt as if you didn’t care. That you only needed people to hang out with until you became Miss Popular. But I know in my heart that you will find true love and one day be the happiest person ever. Until then I will always be here for you. Don’t let my feelings for you freak you out. I know this is out of the blue but I just had to tell you. The pain was getting to be to much for me, watching you be hurt by Todd. No one deserves that.

Well love always, Joel

P.S. love doesn’t have to hurt.

As Kaitlin read Joel’s heart felt letter she began to cry and was feeling as if she wasn’t alone in the world. Somebody cared about her. Everything was going to be ok. She however couldn’t tell Joel that she had the same feelings because she knew that if she did she would soon be hurt. Things just always happened that way with her. So for the rest of their senior year Kaitlin was just friends with Joel and Benji. (I forgot to tell you guys that they were seniors… SORRY!!)

At the end of the year

As they walk to the graduation song Kaitlin’s eyes fill with tears because she finally made it. She is out of high school. Benji and Joel were both just as happy because this means that they would be away from the torture of the popular kids and they will finally be able to pursue their music career with their band called, Good Charlotte.

At the end of the graduation ceremony

Kaitlin poses for pictures for her family with her two best friends, Benji and Joel. Everything is normal until that last day of summer when Kaitlin goes to college and the twins start touring. Their last night they all spent the night at Kaitlin’s place and did what they did best, eat pizza and watch movies. In the morning it was time for Kaitlin to leave. She was going off to UW, University of Washington. All the way across the country. She probably wouldn’t be seeing Benji or Joel soon. She had even made friends with Billy, Paul, and Aaron, the other guys in Good Charlotte. She was like their mascot sometimes. She would go to their gigs and be their own personal groupie. Even though all she did was hang out with them. This was one of the hardest times for her, she was going to leave everything she knew again. She told all the guys that she would go to their show in Washington if they came, and that they better give her some free tickets and backstage passes! As she drove away in her beat up car she began to well up with tears and wished that she had said something to Joel but she never did and she probably wasn’t going to have the chance for a long time.
