As soon as Jina got home she figured she'd walk over to the Madden house even tho band practice was over and the other guys had left she figured she'd go over there to make herself feel better. Snow began to fall as she walked over to the house.
"JINA!", Heather opened the door to see her standing there with a slight smile on her face.
"Are you okay?", asked Heather worried. A concerned Benji peaked over Heather's shouldures at Jina. She looked down and began to cry. Heather took Jina's hand and brought her out of the cold. They led her to the couch.
"Is Joel around?", Jina questioned as she began to take her jacket off and she placed it next to her on the couch. Benji and Heather sat on the floor and looked up at her.
"He's in the bathroom what happend at the doctors office, im sorry Jee I had to tell Benj, Joel has no idea tho", she confessed.
"It's alright Heather, I only have Lukemia", Jina's lips quivered as she said the word.
"Jina your joking", Benji stated touching her knee's. Heathers eyes became glassy how could her best friend be dying
"Ive never been so serious in my life Benj", she broke down in tears.
"Hey guys whats.......JINA!", Jina heard her best guy friends voice walking into the room and she just wanted to burry herself right that second. Joel removed her jacket from her couch. Joel placed himself next to Jina and put his arm around her.
"Whats going on guys?", Joel questioned. Benji and Heather looked at each other and both got up at the same time. Heather's eyes were all teary and Benji grabbed her and took her up to his room to leave Joel and Jina alone.
"Jina is everything alright".
"I got my blood tested this morning because Ive been really sick latley you know I told you those nightly sweats and shit well Joel it turns out all of it is", she couldn't continue.
"What is it Jee you can tell me anything", Joel stated.
"Lukemia Joel I have Lukemia", she looked into his brown eyes.
"O Jee Im soo sorry I dont....I dont know what to say", Joel was speechless this could not be happening.
"Joel you dont have to say anything just hug me thats all", she told him. He took her in his embrace and craddled her in his arms. She heard him crying but she didn't want to say anything.

That night after Jina and Heather went home Joel and Benji went to bed it was around 10:30 that night. Benji couldn't sleep all he could hear was his brother moving around and his soft wimpers. He hadn't heard Joel cry in his sleep since the night their dad left.
"Joel?", Benji questioned looking over at the other bed on the other side of the dark room. A moan from Joel was all he got. Benji shut his eyes and went to sleep.

"Joel did you do your chem homework?", Benji questioned rummaging through his locker before homeroom looking for his chem note book.
"Joel, hello JOEL!", Benji yelled causing a few preps to turn their heads. Benji took his head out of the tan pukey colored locker. He looked at Joel who was leaning up against his locker looking down the hallway at Jina who was talking to Heather while she gathered some books in her backpack.
"Sorry Benj what did you say?", Joel questioned.
"Nothing Joel it's alright dont worry about it", Benji stated. Joel, Benji and Heather headed off to room 137 for homeroom. The 4 of them sat in the back of the room with a bandmate of the guys Billy. Billy had long brown hair and dressed very dark.
"So I was thinking that one song, those chords aren't right", Billy stated as he picked up his pencil and looked down at the words and chords of a song they had written yesterday.
"Billy that's because you didn't change yours, remember we changed it", Benji stated taking Billy's pencil and fixing the markings.
"Whats up with Joel, he seems to be more interested in Jina then he's ever been", Billy whispered to him.
"She's sick she's got lukemia, but I think Joels had this attraction toward her for a while, well since we were kids but they always had signifigant others up until the last year, I think thats when they both realize that they both like each other but they definitly aren't going to tell each other the two quiet ones", Benji stated.
"Yeah they're quiet. Im soo sorry about Jina, I wish there was something I could do, she's a sweet girl", Billy stated.
"Yeah, she'll be fine tho she's tuff", Benji stated.
"Benj!!!", Heather stated giving her boy a back massage. '
"Hey gurl", Benji stated kissing her.
"Whatca guys chatting about?", she questioned.
"This song that we wrote yesterday they forgot to tell me they changed a few chords", Billy stated.
"Hey you forgot to add them f*cker", Benji stated.
"Joel could you please stop staring at me like that", Jina stated as she uncomfortably shifted in her seat. She picked the pen up from what she was drawing and looked at him.
"Like what, i was staring at you?", Joel shook his head in confusion.
"Joel, listen if you want Im going to a class tommorow night about Lukemia if you want to come with me, Im going to learn more about it and Chemotherapy and what happens because my first dossage of the s*it is in 2 weeks till then im on some f*cked up pills thats going to make me almost as sick as chemo but Joel if you want to find out more you can. I know your thinking about it", Jina stated touching his hand. Joel slowly tightened his grip on her hand.
"I'd like to go", Joel stated.
"Good now stop staring at me, so that we dont be late for first period", she smiled. Joel looked around the room to see the last people fileing out.

"So you could go into remission for years right?", Joel questioned after him and Jina exited the doctors office. Jina's Aunt couldn't attend because of a big business meeting down at her office.
"Yes Joel, thats right and f*ck I know I will, so you dont worry I'll be around for a while", Jina stated linking her arm with his.
"Well well if it isn't for Joel Madden and his girlfreak", a tall kid with long blonde hair stated. The basketball game had just let out as they walked past the school.
"Listen Mike we aren't in the mood alright, so if you'd just step aside we'd like to get through", Joel gave him a fake smile.
"F*ck no", the boy stated antagonizing Joel. Joel let go of Jina's arm.
"Joel don't lets just walk the other way because I dont want to get involved in another fight this year", Jina told him.
"Jina shut your mouth and let me handle it", Joel angrily yelled. Jina gave Joel a dirty look and turned away and walked herself home.

"Joel man what happend to you?", Benji questioned as Joel stepped over him and Heather who lay on the floor watching Beavis and Butthead (Benji's choice lol). Joel had a big black and blue eye and a little blood dripped from his lip.
"I'll be right back", Benji stated giving Heather a kiss as he ran into the kitchen to follow him. Heather quickly changed the channel before he came back.
"Joel talk to me", Benji said as he walked into the yellow kitchen. Joel sat down at a round table in the middle of the kitchen with an ice pack over his eye. Benji sat down on the other side and looked at Joel.
"What?", Joel responded nastily.
"What happend, tell me", Benji stated.
"Jina and I were walking home when Mike Powers from the basketball team came over and started a fight, Jina said we should just walk away and I told her to shut her mouth, she left and Mike punched me", Joel stated.
"Happy?", he questioned.
"No, so Jina walked home alone in the dark", Benji stated.
"Yeah....", Joel looked at his brother.
"Joel I know there is something your thinking about in that weird assed brain of yours just tell her how you feel".
"What the f*ck are you talking about Benj?",Joel questioned him.
"You like Jina admit it", Benji tried to get it out of him.
"You dont know that, Jina and I are friends who both made a pact that we would never date because dating only leads to trouble", Joel stated just about to get up.
"Then why haven't neither of you had someone in the past year".
"Unlucky I guess", Joel stated walking toward the livingroom.
"Good night Heather", Joel stated as he walked through the livingroom.
"Do I dare to ask what happend?", Heather asked.
"No, Hey where's Beavis and Butthead?", Benji questioned.
"BENJ! IT'S TIME FOR HEATHER TO GO HOME SWEETI", Benji heard his mom call from her bedroom.
"Okay mom", Benji obayed his mother.
"Well I guess I'll see you at school tommorow", Benji stated as Heather stood up. He walked her to the door and grabbed her jacket.
"Yup", she stated giving him a quick kiss on the lips.
