A Fire Inside - Chapter 27

Is it possible for everything to seem absolutely perfect? When it seems the world is finally right, does it mean there really is no way to go other than down? Does the universe gracefully reach its peak, then come crashing down?

Rylann slept in eternal bliss, finally for the first time in weeks not running to vomit every ten minutes. Dare she say she finally, after every wayward turn her life has made, feels that her life is perfect? Benji's strong, protective arms easily consumed her petite body, allowing her to relish in the comfort she lacked for so long. As awareness slowly awakened her body, thoughts of how to share her news with her husband once again raced through her mind. There was no doubt that he would be excited, overjoyed?but Rylann couldn't shake the feeling that she wasn't meant to have children and that something would jinx her pregnancy. She tried to rid herself of such ridiculous thoughts, but they always crept back into her sweet visions. Desperate to shake the feeling, Rylann allowed her body to fully wake and she gently positioned her body slightly further away from Benji to watch him sleep. In all the commotion of the last few days, Rylann had completely forgotten what today was. One year ago, this very day, she became Mrs. Benjamin Madden. Again, the damn grin snuck onto her face; something about being Mrs. Madden still and always would excite her. She couldn't wait to simply hear his voice any longer; anxious to just whisper to him. Rylann slipped under the cover a little more and moved toward his sleeping figure. She laid herself atop him, gently applying kisses to his chest. She kissed upward, across his neck, along his jaw, and forcefully to his lips. It didn't take long for him to wake up and return the motion with his mouth. Her tongue begged for entrance by teasing along his bottom lip, for which he willingly allowed her in. Her hands swirled along the sides of his stomach, his gently running through her hair. After an intense wakeup, Benji broke their kiss.

"Mmm?" he began, then softly sang, "Can I touch your lips? Feel the motion of your kiss? I remember when I first saw your face. You took my breath away and left without a trace. So here I stand empty handed point of view. I took some time. The search is up and I found you?"

Rylann had no response, completely in awe of this moment. She replied the only way she knew how; permitting his body to access her the way on he could.

* An Hour Later*

Time stood still, as far as Rylann was concerned, she could have laid there with Benji for the rest of her life, and then some. Benji was not about to object to that option, taking in every aspect of the moment he had longed for the entire time he was on the road. Lots of planning had led to this day though; so lounging together for eternity was not an option at that time.

"What time do we have to be next door?" Benji inquired softly.

"Joel is taking Jayde out for their anniversary around five, and everyone is supposed to be there by six?Joel said they would be back by seven." Rylann whispered into his chest, where she was still situated.

"Everything is so?perfect. My brother is beside himself with happiness, a beautiful wife and two children on the way; Paul and Zandria finally back living so close; Amy and Lil' Billy making a semi-official commitment by living together; and us, ohhh us?." He smiled.

"Yea?finally just the two of us, here?alone."

"I couldn't ask for more?" Rylann rolled to his side, positioning herself on her elbow. She sighed deeply, and almost blurted out the news. `It has to be perfect' she reminded herself. She breathed deeply again, and rethought what she would say.

"Benj, what exactly are your thoughts on kids? Like us, having kids??"

"Umm, well?.I know I want them, whether they are a product of us physically or simply of our love doesn't matter. I see us with kids? there is just something about the pitter patter of little feet that makes everything in the world seem right. I want the chance to give my children something I was never fully given, I want to right the wrongs that have been done to me through my own babies. So, yea, I want them?how we get them doesn't matter nor does the time?we'll know when it's right, it'll be?perfect."

At that moment, there was no doubt in Rylann's mind that having this baby was a mistake. Any previous thought that she wasn't meant to have children vanished. Benji was going to be the perfect father, and some greater force would not have brought she and him together if they weren't meant to express their love through children. Together they would right every wrong that had ever been made to them growing up, they would give their children what they never fully knew; Love. She smiled brightly at him and softly kissed his nose. She rested her head on his rising chest still smiling to herself? `Tonight' she thought, `tonight will be the perfect time, we'll finally make our family official'?
