Wednesday; the next day
“ Skylee- Where’s Sky-”
“ I’m right here, Kevin. I haven’t budged over the hour,”
Skylee said dryly.
“ Ok, listen. I invited Lucas and Brooke to the concert,”
He stared at her as if expecting something.
“ What?” She asked, noticing his stare.
“ Well?”
“ Oh, yippee, that was extremely generous of you. Now the
next step, can I leave the hotel?” She said slowly, as if
talking to a child.
“ Skylee, I don’t know what to do with you,” Kevin sighed,
disappionted at her lack of intrest.
“ How about-”
“ Forget it,” He cut her off and turned back to the tv
moniter where Aaron, Nick’s little brother was doing
soundcheck.
“ You have anything to say about that, AJ?” Kev asked,
remembering how AJ was almost always at Sky’s defense.
“ Huh?” AJ asked dazedly, as if he was a million miles
away.
“ Kev asked if you had anything to say about Skylee not
leaving the hotel,” Howie chirped helpfully,
“ Why would he?” Snapped Skylee, glaring at a very confused
AJ.
“ What? What in the fucking Hell is everyone talking about?
I didn’t say a word other than ‘huh’ and she’s already on my
back,” AJ said, slightly irritated about how everyone was
looking at him.
“ Go back to sleep, bro” Brian said to AJ, chuckling. AJ
sighed and glanced at Skylee who had turned back to her
magazine.
“ What?” She asked, catching his look.
“ Nothing,” He said angrily, loathing mixed in his voice.
“ OK, we’re almost due for soundcheck,” Nick said, coming
into the room.
“ Ugh, can’t I just walk to the mall down the street,
please? I’ll take Jake with me,”
“ No,” Kevin said firmly.
“ Kevin, please? I am soooo bored,” Skylee pleaded and
Kevin winced. He hated hearing her plead and she probably
knew that.
“ Skylee, I said no,” He restated, not backing down.
“ Why?”
“ Because I don’t trust you,”
“ What’s the worst can I do?” She demanded, really needing
to get out of the building.
“ Lucas and Brooke’ll be here soon,”
“ I don’t care, I still want to go to the mall,”
“ You’re acting like a child again,” He said, trying to
restrain the anger from his voice. She always managed to
make it look like it was his fault in front of everyone.
“ Kevin-”
“ Skylee! I said no!” He shouted suddenly, letting the
frustration heard in his voice. She stared at him, caught
off guard. Kevin stood up and stormed out of the room.
“ Nice one, Skylee,” AJ remarked, still pissed off at her.
“ Sky, Come on, give Kev a break,” Brian said, feeling bad
for both of his cousins.
“ How about you all just stay out of my business,” She
snapped, standing up.
“ Where are you going?” Brian asked.
“ Nowhere,” She mumbled, picking up her stuff.
“ Sky, come on, hun-” Nick cut himself off, knowing she
wasn’t going to listen to what anyone was gonna say at this
point.
“ I’ll see you guys later,” She said distantly, as if she
wasn’t even paying attention to what the hell was going on
anymore. She managed to walk out of the building and head
to the mall safely...

Nick knocked softly on Skylee’s door at three that day.
The concert had ended earlier than expected so they had
arrived at the hotel half an hour ago.
“ Who is it?”
“ It’s me,” The door opened and he caught sight of her,
actually happy.
“ Hey, Nick,” She smiled, giving him a hug.
“ Hey, Sky, You’re in a great mood,”
“ Yeah,” Was her only response and she led him inside and
shut the door.
“ How was the mall?”
“ Pretty good, I found a ton of stuff,” She said, glancing
at the bags piled by the couch. Nick was suddenly hit with
the thought of how she was acting a lot like the old Skylee.
“ Anything intresting happen? Does Kev know you’re back?”
Her face darkened and she shook her head.
“ Nope...He’s gonna be mad though,”
“ Oh...I didn’t see him after the concert so I can’t help
you out with if he was in a bad mood or not,”
“ That’s OK...It’s soo sunny,” She commented, looking at the
balcony doors.
“ Yeah. It’s only three, I thought it was at least four
already,”
“ Hmmm...Did you need anything?”
“ Oh, nope. Just seeing how the mall trip went and if it’s
worth what Kevin’ll say,”
“ Yeah, I guess it was,”
“...Sky? Don’t get mad but imagine how he feels right now.
I mean you’re not being very fair,” Skylee studied his face
and sighed.
“ Yeah, I know...It’s just...”
“ What?” He prodded.
“ I don’t like it when he already assumes what I’m gonna do
and won’t listen if I tell him that’s not it. I mean,
what’s the point of arguing with him if he won’t listen so I
might as well go ahead and do what he and everyone else
expects me to do,”
“ Sky, you are the type of person who does’nt care what
anyone thinks of you, why worry about what everyone else
assumes? Prove them all wrong,”
“ Yeah...I guess I’ll keep that in mind...Except for the
fact that I hate staying cooped up,”
“ It’ll only be temporary, Sky,” He said, standing up to
leave.
“ I’ll see ya later,”
“ OK, bye,” He walked out and left Skylee again. As he
walked through the hallway, he bumped into Kevin.
“ Kevin, hey,”
“ Hey, Nick. Is Skylee in her room?”
“ Listen, Kev. I had a little chat with her. Just let this
one slide, OK? She can’t stand to be cooped up and this
time was too much. Just give her the benefit of the doubt?”
“ Nick-”
“ Hey, you’re her older brother, do what you think is right
but if you want the old Skylee back as much as I do, you’d
let this one slide,” Nick shrugged and continued walking,
leaving Kevin standing in the hallway, thinking...
