AJ watched as the hotel pulled closer into view. He
silently prayed that the hotel wasn’t packed with fans for
once, really needing to just get into bed. No such luck.
As the bus stopped by the front, he could already see the
pre-adolescent girls packed into the lobby. Weary, he
gathered his stuff and wondered if he had ever stayed at a
hotel lobby into the early hours of the day just to see some
singer. He doubted it and mentally prepped himself into
somewhat of a good exterior, slipping into the “ AJ McLean,
Backstreet Boy” mode. Sighing inside, he made his way out
of the bus, following the others and the bodyguards.
“ Stop and sign some stuff,” Kev instructed AJ, knowing his
expression too well.
“ Do I have to?” He asked, knowing damn well he sounded
childish.
“ Yes, AJ, you have to,”
“ God, you don’t have to snap,” He grumbled, faking a
convincing smile at the group of fans clustered by the
entrance.
“ Could you please sign this?” Came a tenative voice,
followed by at least a dozen others, melting into
nothingness as AJ moved mechanically, not even hearing them
anymore.
“ AJ? Where are you-?” AJ ignored Howie’s quizzical voice
as he moved through the last of them, making his way to the
elevators. The only thing on his mind was Skylee and her
bitchiness. The only thing she could do was snap at his
efforts of becoming at least somewhat of friends. He never
did anything right when it came to her. As he got off the
elevator, he made his mind up for the hundreth time to just
leave her alone. If it was like this at the beginning of
the tour, imagine how it would get later if he kept up his
efforts. He quickly undressed and got into bed, once again
pushing her out of his mind as he drifted off into an uneasy
sleep...

Meanwhile, Skylee was upstairs, on the phone with
Brooke and Lucas, the cousins who lived here in Georgia.
After a lot of consideration, she declined their offer of
going clubbing, not in the mood to get caught and yelled at
all over again. When she got off the phone at around
eleven, she sat back on the couch and sighed, feeling the
loneliness catch up once more. She suspected this was what
all the others in the band felt but were too askanse of
their success to mention it and risk jinxing it. Looking
around the room, she found nothing that caught her intrest
and felt a familiar wave of impatience and anger towards her
brother. What did he expect her to do here? Did he think
she was seriuosly leaving nothing behind in Seattle; that
she could just drop and pick up her life as it had been
whenever the time called? It was all too frustratingly
clear. She had to somehow win back his trust but it was
going to be difficult since he didn’t let her out of sight
anymore. The phone rang and she answered it, ready to
accept any sort of distraction. It turned out to be Brian,
just checking up on her. When she relayed her boredom to
him, his only solution was to turn on the tv or go to sleep.
She let him end the conversation and absently called Kev,
forgetting her iciness towards him.
“ Hello?”
“ Kevin? Hey, it’s me,”
“ Sky, hey, what’s goin’ on, didja need something?”
“ Um, not really but I’m bored-”
“ Skylee, I told you, you can’t leave the hotel,” Kevin
chided wearily.
“ Kevin, I wasn’t intending on asking you if I could leave
the hotel. I mean, what’s out there that could hold my
intrest that can’t here?” She replied, hurt again that he
assumed yet another thing.
“ OK, Skylee, I am gonna get ready to hit the sack,
Goodnight,”
“ Goodnight, Kevin,” She hung up and decided that instead of
just bringing herself down anymore, she’d go to sleep...
