Unintended - Chapter 16
Unintended - Chapter 16

Sunday was the snail of the week, crawling by painfully slow; the usual patrons of Gaffney's usually hit the beack or the park on Sundays, leaving Railyn with nothing to do but twiddle her thumbs. The sun was sinking down to sleep, leaving unwelcomed darkness in its wake as she stepped out of the store. Walking home, her mind was occupied with thoughts of Greg. She didn't know what to do with this undying feeling she had that burned for him, burned so much, it made her heart achy and soar. She always congradulated herself for not slipping into the puddle of love quickly, but every passing second caused her body to fall deeper and deeper for Greg. She was so sheltered from that feeling every young person deserves to experience.

The house was unusually quiet when she paced up the stairs. Jiggling the knob, she peaked inside the dining room window, but the dining room was casted in the dark, the table scarcely displaying left-over spagetti dinners from a few hours before. He fished through her black Adidas track pants and found her key. She inserted it in the lock and it clicked efficiently. She pushed through the door to joyous screaming and yelling of "Surprise!"

Her eyes were pleasently bombarded by white and blue twinkling lights surrounding the living room, colorful baloons and her friends dressed to the fine. Soft R&B circled at her feet as she felt tears wedge into her eyes. Greg stood to the right, handsomely decked out in a black tux, his brown hair free of hair gel and spray, they way Railyn adored it, holding something delicately in his arms.

"You guys!" she whined, strmbling foward to hug all her girls. The rest of Dream Street were spead throughout the room, Chris the only member attached to Danielle's side...surprisingly. She waved to them as she approached Greg, "Greg," she sighed whimsically, shaking her head and smiling.

"Here," Greg whispered, lowering the dress into her hands. "Go try it on." Railyn's eyes exploded as they scowered the dress. Light blue sequence sprinkled the bell skirt sparatically, stopping respectively at the strapless top. She hugged it to her chest greedily, left a small kiss on Greg's cheek, and sprinted up the stairs to the attic.

10 minuetes later, she appeared at the top of the stairs, the whole room looking up at her, the angel that she is. She gracefully fluttered down the stairs, her eyes playfully jumping between Danielle and Greg. Like a princess descending from her quarters, she ran her hands gingerly over the white railing until she reached the bottom. The dress looked, simply put, beautiful on her. Greg could take his eyes off her even if he tried, she was a magnet; his sugar rush walked to him and smiled the sun. Joyous tears flooded her eyes again. She whiped at her eyes, snickered and looked among her friends. They all looked so gorgeous, all decked out with their hair up, green, pink and lavendar dresses hugging their bodies. They boys, please, tuxeods, need I say more?

"I can't..." she tried to say, but joy sputtered from her eyes. She laughed again, brushing at her eyes. "You guys are so sweet. I couldn't ask for a better birthday than to hang with the people I care for the most."

"You deserve it, Rai," Danielle told her smiling and with a head nod, Chris snaking his arm around Danielle's waist. The rest of the agreed with head nodding.

"Oh," Railyn replied modestly, lacing her fingers over the silky fabric of her dress. "I don't think I deserve this much."

"Sure you do," Greg replied, cupping his hands around hers. She peered up at him, raising her eyebrows. "And there's one more thing."

"What else could I possibly want?" Railyn asked honestly with a lighthearted chuckle, one last tear trickling down her cheek.

"We have a show next weekend at the Westbury Music Fair," Greg told her, taking his index finger and flicking the tear away from her cheek. "We want you to open for us, you know, have that incredable experience you've always wanted."

Railyn was transformed into a child, her sky-blue eyes widening like the Ice Cream man was approaching on a hot summer's day. She looked over Greg's shoulder anxiously to Chris and Frankie. They nodded and smiled back at her, assuring she wasn't in a dream state. She let out a boisterous shreik of excitment, wrapping her arms around Greg's neck like a pro-wrestler's signature move, almost choking the life out of that italian cutie. "Oh my God!" she said, jumping up and down in her spot a few times, clasping her hands together. "Thank you guys so much. This is...wow...incredable."

This was definatley a night to remember. The music, the chocolate ice cream cake, the presents, well, that's not important to Railyn. Friendship was gift enough. It was an absolutley blissful night for Railyn who spent most of the night resting on the blue couch in the comfort of Greg's arms; she wasn't feeling well. Watching her girlies get in on with those cutie of Dream Street was entertainment enough. Danielle and Natalie could always be caught cutting up the rug with Chris, Frankie and Matt. Natalie seemed a little shy, a little overcome by Danielle and Natalie's confidence with the boys as she timidly looked at them, but she evetually warmed up to that Leo look-a-like as he took her hand tenderly in his.

This was all surreal to Greg, never truley believeing he'd find someone he liked, maybe loved, with every beat of his heart. He felt more needed, more appreciated with Railyn in his arms than he ever felt on stage. If that was a good or bad thing, he wasn't sure, but he wasn't going to let her slip away easily.

"C'Mon Rai, get up," Danielle pressed as Chris wrapped his arms around her waist tighter than Christmas ribbon. A smooth ballot from *NSYNC began to surround them, the transe surrounding Greg and Railyn like a dense fog. "You know you love this song."

Railyn glanced to the left at Greg and smiled. He smiled back and meshed his hand with hers as they rose from the blue couch. Railyn led him slowly to center stage and hooked her arms around his neck. Greg gently cloaked his arms around her tiny waist as they began to sway to the music. Greg pulled her closer, longing to feel her hair brushing against his tan neck and smell her sweet, intoxicating scent. "Where have you been all my life?" Railyn asked him innocently in his ear, her voice spirling jolts of satisfaction down his body. That question snagged Greg by surprise, but once he thought about it...

"I should be asking you that," Greg responded with all honestly, locking eyes with her. A small smile crept on her moon-lit face, blue light encompassing and enhancing her unhinging beauty. Her hands gingerly played with the brown hair on the back of his neck, sending another series of shivers shooting silently down his spine.

"You know what I wished for?" Railyn whispered to him, their dancing ceasing. The music muted out of their ears, feeling something was going to explode.

"You can't tell me," Greg warned her playfully, stopping her from speaking with a finger to her pearly pink lips. "Then it won't come true."

Railyn lowered his head closer to hers with her arms, her heated breath hitting his neck, flowing faintly about his collar bone like a dog's light panting. "Think really...really hard," she cooed, her blue eyes sending him into a hypnotic state as if ESP was processing the message to his brain. She licked her lips hungrily as Greg bit his lip innocently. They both leaned foward and contact was made. The kiss was every thing Greg and Railyn imagined it would be in their dreams; soft, sensual, but full of emotion and truth. Railyn's lips tasted sweeter than any strawberries or candies or cinnamon ever to have the privaledge to graze Greg's mouth. Greg couldn't pull away; neither could Railyn. This was meant to be. This connection, this undying longing wouldn't subside without proper reason. That reason may be upon them before they know it. What would they do?
