No Fairy Tale - Chapter 6

‘’So what are you doing in the city anyway?’’ She smiled gently at him, her leather jacket and beanie making her look very sleek, as did everybody else in the city.

‘’I’m staying with Anthony and Katie for a few days, then going home for Christmas.’’ He grinned back down at her. They had long since dropped off their groceries and were now walking along the frosted sidewalks of New York’s Central Park.

‘’That’s cool.’’

‘’So this friend you’re staying with, he’s not like your boyfriend, right?’’

‘’No. Actually I haven’t gone out with anyone since Frankie…’’ she drifted off, her eyes glazing with tears.

‘’Ahh, the one after me. You okay?’’ he laughed then saw the tears falling silently from her eyes.

‘’Yeah, I’m fine. I guess I just miss him.’’ She smiled weakly and wiped away the few tears.

‘’What happened there?’’

‘’He died. In a car accident.’’

‘’I’m sorry… I didn’t know.’’

‘’No, Ryan it’s okay. I’m getting over it, anyway.’’ She smiled and slipped her hand in his. He smiled back at her. Their breath was visible in the chilled air.

‘’Allison?’’

‘’Yeah?’’ she looked up at him. He picked her chin up with his free hand and tilted her face towards his. She leaned in and the two kissed. Their hands dropped from one another. She placed her arms around his neck, his hands on her waist. But when she opened her eyes, it wasn’t Ryan she saw…
