Can't Make You Love Me - Chapter 6

"Don't freak," Jesse continued. It's a good thing he told me not to because I more than ready.

"What happened?" I pressed.

"He was in a car accident and he was found unconscious."

"AAAHHH! Where is he?" Jesse gave me directions to the room, and I ran smack into a nurse on my way down the hall and up the stairs, flying down another hallway. I had jumped into some normal clothes and dashed out the door after hanging up on Jesse. I was too flustered to say goodbye.

"Sorry!" I called to the nurse as I continued running. I accidentally ran right by the room, stopped short, and went back. I walked in the door and I guess Greg was currently conscious because his eyes lit up when he saw me.

"Allie!" He strained his voice trying to talk to me. I took a couple of quick steps to his bedside and put my finger to his lips.

"Shhh!" I soothed. I ran the back of my fingers along his cheek, then switched hands and played with his hair (yes, I know me and hair, right?), while gazing into his eyes. A knock on the open door startled me. I turned to see Frankie, Matt, Chris, and Jesse walking in. I looked at Chris with a hurt expression and he turned away. The guys and I visited for a while and Jesse told us he had plans to meet Ally in a few minutes. I apologized for hanging up on him, but he said he understood before he left. Chris decided to pull me outside for a minute.

"You doing anything tonight?" he asked.

"Oh my gosh, I don't know… well, not anymore…" I assumed Greg wouldn't be able to take me out anymore that night. I had totally forgotten about it, and I think he did, too.

"You want to hang out? Get a movie or something?" Chris eyed me while he asked, probably searching for signs that I was stuck on Greg. I didn't want any of that confusion, so I answered him immediately.

"Sure!" I walked back into Greg's room for a minute. He tried to turn his head, which was supported by a neck brace, so it didn't work very well.

"Hey. Chris is going to take me home, ok? I'll see you later. Maybe I'll call your room or something." We kissed and I left with Chris. We walked out of the hospital and down the street towards Chris's apartment.

"HEY!" We heard a yell from the sidewalk on the opposite side of the street. Jesse and Ally shimmied across the busy road, hand in hand, and caught up with Chris and I.

"Hey guys!" I exclaimed. "What ya up to?"

"Just walking around. You?" Ally inquired.

"We're going to my apartment to chill," Chris answered for me.

"Ooohhh… sure you are," Jesse teased. He smirked and suddenly disappeared.

SPLASH!
