Show HTML Codes And Scripts

T here are many of you out there that for the world of you can't figure out how to put a script or HTML coding on a page so it shows up so people can see it and or copy it.

We have tested the code in IE6.0, Firefox1.5.0.2, Opera8.54, Netscape8.1 and AOL Explorer1.2. This script worked well in all platforms with no variations observed.

W ell look no further, this is done very, very easily by substitution of the Greater than and the Less than characters. You know the ones we mean, the <  >

A ll you really do is substitute &lt; for < and &gt; for >

I n the below example, you can see the finished effect of the substitution. If you would like to view the source code feel free. We have it well marked as you can see in the below code.

B y copying the above code this is what you get. You get an image to click to mail our Webmaster through your default mail service. This little substitution is only limited to the extend of how far you want to go with it to be able to show HTML on your page that people can copy. It is also much more cosmetic then to send someone to a sub-directory that does not match your site.

I f you would like to learn more on this substitution code, including a generator that will do the hand coding for you, just follow the below link and you are there. On this page we have also included a link to 150 different characters and how to make them appear on your pages.

I f you would grab the below link, we do have a small "Freeware" program ( 146 kb ) ".....sHTMLc (show HTML code) which is a small tool that lets you convert HTML code snippets to the proper format that allows you to display the actual HTML tags - for tutorials, link instructions or any other reason. You can either code this by hand, which is rather akward, or just copy the HTML to the clipboard, start sHTMLc - click Convert and paste the coded tags back... You can even specify a color. A very simple but yet extremely handy tool for any webmaster.....". This little gem "Does" add the option to select the XHTML version of <br>, namely <br /> tags for each line of code where there should be a break.
