T he above is the login box we generated with this script. If you login, the page you will be taken to will show you everything you need to know about adding this script to your pages, making a login box like this one for restricted entry and the copy and paste codes.

We have tested the code (both the generating of the login form and also the login form itself) in IE6.0, Firefox1.5.0.3, Opera8.54, Netscape8.1 and AOL Explorer1.2. This script worked well in all platforms with no variations observed.

A "Javascript password protection system" that allows you to select the number of users to create. The interface then designs a platform to type in the user names, passwords, and destination locations for each user. Then clicking a button generates the code, which encodes all values through a secure algorithm. User Name and passwords are nearly impossible to crack!

W hat all the above means in lay-persons terms is quite simple. All it means is that the
"Javascript password protection system" is a generator that creates a login box (like the one below) that you can create as many User Names, passwords and locations to access as you need.

Downside Unhappy Smiley

  1. User Names and or passwords cannot be recovered.
  2. This means you must keep another set of records of all the access codes you create in case any of your users forget their access codes.
  3. Once you create your user list with access codes, if you have to add to the list, you cannot just add to it, you must redo all the user names, passwords and URL's that they have access to plus any new users you are adding.

I f you would like to view our source code to see the generated code for this login box, go right ahead. We have it very well marked for your convenience. You will notice that there is nothing in the code that tells you anything about the correct password, page that is protected, etc. If the below button does not function correctly, go to the top of your browser, select "View" and then "Source".

T he only problem you have is that the site from where you get the code, on the link for "see the code", the code is not correct. We have notified the script site of this error on 05/08/04 and they have assured us they will correct it asap. As of 09/04/06 the code has still not correct so until they do, grab the below link for a good copy of the code. The below link also has its own tutorial on howto so if you have any problems with adding the generator itself, it should clarify them.
