For those of you don't know, I went to see Nick perform at the Vanderblit in Planview, NY on February 22nd. The show was supposed to be the 18th but it got canceled because of this gigantic snow storm we got. We never get two feet of snow but because Melissa was going to a concert it had to happen lol. Anyway I went with my friend Damarys who was one of my buds from high school and a fellow BSB fan (although she prefers Howie, but she had to go see Nick's solo tour.)
So yea ... the day of the concert arrives and naturally it's POURING rain out. So that kind of ruined her plans of getting there too early because my Mom didn't want me getting sick and she was arguing that I was going to freeze my ass off. Finally I think we left about 5:00ish? Anyway I only live like 10-15 minutes away so it wasn't a huge deal. Now I had heard from my friends who had been at the NJ show and the Philly show that they were saying no cameras were allowed except disposable, so I decided to leave my good camera at home and I made my Mom stop at Target so Damarys and I could stop in and buy cameras. It's a good thing I get 10% off because I bought three of the damn things because I get just a little camera happy when Nick is around. Then we were going to buy Nick a little gift to throw onstage. We were thinking a stuffed animal, but everyone does that and we wanted to be original. (LOL Chantal told me to buy a thong to throw onstage and write my cell phone number on the price tag LMAO) So we were thinking of getting him either V-day boxers with little hearts on them or PJ pants with something really cute on them because Target has like one's with Mr. Potato Head and Hershey Kisses on them. Then we were gonna attach some Blow Pops just for shits and giggles and so I could tell Meg and we could burst out laughing. (It's an inside joke folks... If you want to know IM me or something and I'll tell you where it came from lol) Anyway we decided not to at the last minute because A) We were running late B) It was pouring out C) We didn't want security to give us a hard time and D) We weren't sure if we'd get close enough to reach the stage anyway.
So we finally get to the club at about 5:15 and just as I'm getting out of the car my Mom goes, "You have the tickets right?" I was like Tickets? OMFG! I forgot the tickets!!! So thank God my Mom drove us because she dropped us off and ran home to get them and came back. Meanwhile there were what looked like a lot of people at first lined up in barricades. So we get on the line thinking Oh shit... We're barely in the barricades here and we couldn't see where the line went (We thought it zigzagged around the building or something) So yea I'm like almost crying thinking here I go... I fucked up another Nick encounter as always and apologizing to Damarys every five seconds for forgetting the tickets and feeling pretty dumb. Then I was calling my Mom like every 5 minutes to find out where she was lol.
Finally there was a glimmer of hope for us... The line moved up a little and we realized that the line actually wasn't very long at all. It was just five rows zigzagging and by then we'd gotten to like the fourth row. I guess a lot of people held off on coming early because of the rain although there was a group of girls who got there at like 6:00am. I'm sorry I love Nick and all but it's really not that serious. I was not about to drag my ass outta bed in the pouring rain and stand outside for 13 hours especially because I do not need to come down with pneumonia and miss any school because unless Nick is paying my college tuition, I can't afford to miss any classes.... Yea where was I? Oh yea ... glimmer of hope... Well, my sister arrived with the tickets so we stopped worrying so much and then we turned and looked at the line and we were SOOOO happy that my Mom dropped us off instead of making us come back with her because the line was now WAAAAY past the barricades ALL the way down and across the parking lot lol. So we felt pretty damn good just about then because I'd say only maybe the first quarter of people were in the barricades and we figured inside it would be more spread out so we had a shot at getting close.
Finally they opened the doors and Damarys goes running up the stairs and I'm like wait up because I was wearing my big ass boots with like a 5 inch heel (Hey when you're as short as me you have to wear big shoes at these things no matter how bad your feet hurt!) So I finally catch up with her and she's standing at the right side of the stage when you first come in, which is already starting to get crowded. So, I told her to wait there and I'll see if it's less crowded on the other side. Sure enough it was MUCH less crowded on the other side. I guess people are too lazy to actually walk across the damn floor. So, I grab Damarys and we run to the left side and kinda squeeze ourselves into the sides and as more people came in ... well we weren't on the end anymore. We were I'd say about 4th row right by the left hand side of the stage. And there were these little teenies in front of us who weren't too tall so I was like Yes! Holy Shit! I'm gonna be closer to Nick than I've ever been!
So yea it got really hot and stupid me not only wore a jacket but a sweater coat over my top because my Mom didn't want me getting sick and yea I thought my top was a little on the skanky side cuz it was bare on one shoulder. So, I took off the sweater coat and tied it around my waist and just held my jacket between my knees because by the time we realized where the coat room was we would never have gotten back to our spots (and I was NOT budging!) Anyway finally after a while VI3 came on and I guess they were pretty good... Certainly got the crowd pumped up and the one guy Lucas was REALLY hott! (I sacrificed two Nick pics for him) I was just thinking Dude ... that's how close I'm going to be to Nick... Then after a while JustinCase came on and I felt bad because I don't think they got as good as response as VI3. There was a lot of teenies chanting how they wanted to see Nick and then like above the stage where the backstage area was they had these lil tinted circular windows, but you could still see through them to a certain extent and Nick and Aaron (Oh yea Aaron was there too lol) were watching JustinCase through them and once all the teenies realized that they were there they went apeshit. I was like Jeez, you can barely see him! Calm down! He's going to be coming onstage within the next hour. So, not a lot of attention was paid to JustinCase (Except for the girl behind me who was trying to jump on top of me to take a picture so finally I just took it for her and then she was poking me in the back with a video camera... How the fuck she managed to sneak that in I have no idea)
Then it took a while for Nick to come on and OMG the bitch claws started coming out... There was one girl in front of me who was like REALLY pissed that Nick wasn't on yet and she was like Eww he's SUCH a conceited asshole! This is bullshit! I dunno why he's making us wait so long. He's doing this on purpose! God knows what he's doing right now! He's a real tease I hate him yada yada.... Let's just say I had to bite my lip not to turn around and go Look you think he's such a conceited asshole? There's the door. Leave... But I was good lol! Then they got pissed because this girl we were talking to was yelling dumb things and she only kept doing it because it pissed the teenies off... Ha it was great!
So finally the DJ from one of the radio station comes on and let me tell you that some of these fans have NO respect! He was being dead ass serious making sure we knew where all the emergency exits were in case of a fire or anything (especially since what happened at the club in Rhode Island) and these girls were booing him! I mean I wanted to smack them because it is a serious matter here... Even the DJ was like Look guys I know you want to see Nick but this important... Ugh People can be so ignorant! Anyway then people started screaming pretty loudly and throwing their hands in the air and pushing so I couldn't see much at first... All I saw was a blonde head and a green parka (who I later found out was Aaron introducing Nick but I swear I thought it was Nick at first LMAO) Anyway the first song he sang was Girls in the USA and I had to reposition myself because there was a lot of pushing and people throwing their arms in the way plus some girl wanted to switch with me so she could be closer to her sister. Somehow I kinda ended up in the 3rd row and I was bugging out! Let me tell you... I knew that Nick's eyes were blue but never THAT blue... Wow... lol I was in awe... I dunno how I managed to snap pictures but I did.
Anyway, yea the concert went on and I tried not to drool too much. I dunno why fans feel the need to reach out and try to touch Nick whenever he comes over to their side of the stage especially when he's up on the stage and then there's a pit with security guards and a barricade separating the fans. It was impossible to reach him unless he went into the pit, which he didn't, and it just really pissed me off because there are now pics that are just someone's hand or camera or shoulder or something. Then doing the acoustic set I got pushed right behind this girl who had to be like 7 feet tall standing right smack in the middle of the 2nd row and I couldn't see shit. It took me a good 20 minutes to move over so I could see again lol. Then near the end of the show my stupid 15 year old cousin who doesn't even like Nick, but went because her friends do, turns around and spots me from the first fucking row! Yea... I was just a little annoyed because she's ALWAYS up there and she never even offers to let me trade places with her a bit even though I do a lot for her but whatever... She took some pics for me from the front but to tell the truth I got some that are just as good even better from my viewpoint.
Hmm... Some major highlights, funny and memorable moments, and crazy thoughts I had during the concert? Well, during Girls in the USA at one part Nick like had his hand on his upper thigh and he was sort of rubbing and really like I mean two inches over and he'd be touching IT. So I was talking with another friend after the concert and she was like did you notice that? And I was like of course! And she said I almost screamed out RUB A LITTLE HIGHER THERE NICK! I was like aww why didn't you it would've been damn funny! Then during one of the songs (I forget which one) but he bent over and ... well I don't think he was wearing anything underneath, because I got an eye full! Damarys thought I was crazy, but a few other people noticed it too so I was not alone lol!
Then before Help Me he does this thing where he acts like he forgot the song and he asks the audience to "help him" out. So, okay when you're that close to Nick and have never been that close before and he's all sweaty... Well, yea lol Your mind starts to wander there a bit. So he was like, "Can anyone out there Help Me? Can any of you guys give me a hand here?" Naturally for those of you know me well I had to use my dirty mind and start thinking Ha! I'll give him a hand all right! Hehe...
The funniest though was Nick was spraying the audience with his water bottle and we got hit with it so after the concert I'm telling my Mom all about it and I was like Guess what Mom? Nick got us wet! (LMAO totally not realizing how bad that sounded lol) Anyway my brother was sitting in the front seat and of course he picked up on it because he has a really nasty mind and was like EWWW! Mel I did not need to hear that! That was just WAAAAYYY too much information! I just sat there like totally confused for like a moment or two and then I realized what he meant and I burst out laughing for like 10 minutes because at the time it just seemed REALLY funny... (Yea... I get a little giddy after seeing Nick in case you didn't notice.)
We were going to wait outside for Nick to come out, so I could finally have a REAL Nick encounter, but the concert ended late and my Mom didn't want to wait around so we didn't. I didn't miss anything though because after the show he went right on his bus to sleep because he had been sick, so he didn't like sign any autographs or anything. (Aww poor baby...) My friend stayed around and she met Aaron, but other than that she said I didn't miss much so I don't feel too badly. (LOl I'd I've been more pissed if i actually waited out there)
