My guess is that this is the first line of Laplantes that emigrated to Clinton County. There is a Joseph Laplante in the 1820 census, and I believe that this was the Joseph Laplante that was married to Marguerite Cayer...and as it turns out Joseph was the uncle to the Pierre Laplante, who married Cecile Landroche Dit Leferte Dit Theroux...who was also in the area. My guess would be that Pierre followed his uncle to Clinton County. It appears that they lived in Chazy and Pt. Rouche, but most of the records are with St. Joseph's in Coopersville.
