These laws shall be adhered to by all who dwell within the borders of the Kingdom of Addercrest, whether you reside here or are just passing through. The laws are divided into three tiers. First Tier are the laws concerning The King, the 2nd Tier decribes the tax laws of Addercrest, the Third Tier describes illegal activity.
Laws of the King (1st Tier)
1.) The King will act as the judge if a trial held, or shall appoint a judge in his absence. A judge appointed must be a noble. Trials must be held for all offenses of the third tier unless the victim waives prosecution of the accused. Then the accused is aquitted. Certain crimes the victim may not waive prosecution. Ultimatily the fate of the accused is decided upon by the King or Judge at the trial.
2.) The king may grant writs of execution, or clemency at any time.
3.) The King may name nobles: However in order to be named a Noble you must own land. You shall be given a Note of Nobility by the King. Nobles may have additional laws on their land, however their laws may never negate the 1st, 2nd or 3rd Tier laws. Nobles may uphold the laws and Answer only to the King, and to the current Head of the Aetherian Order. If you are arrested by a noble and resist it is within the power of that noble to dispatch justice accordingly.
4.) The Aetherian Order shall be the national army of Addercrest.
5.) The King must name an heir, in the event of the kings death that Heir must wait until they turn sixteen years of age, then they may be crowned King or Queen of Addercrest. In the absence of a King the Head of the Aetherian Order acts as the care taker to the throne and has executive powers as if he were the king. If a suitable heir does not surface within 5 years then the Head of the Aetherian Order may name a new Head and crown himself King of Addercrest. If the King is married then his Queen assumes control in the event of his death.
6.) In order to sell wares within the Kingdom of Addercrest you must possess a Merchantilsm License. This license costs 1 gold and is good for life, it can be suspended by the King or the Head of the Aetherian Order.
7.) You must possess a license of craft in order to produce weapons or armor within the Kingdom of Addercrest. This license costs 1 gold and is good for life. It can be suspended by the King or the Head of the Aetherian Order.
8.) Unoffcial Guilds are not permitted within Addercrest. In order to become a Guild you must have a guildhall and must present a Charter to the King. Guilds will be granted free licenses to do business within Addercrest. Any Guilds found violating the laws shall be shut down and their guild masters/mistress' shall be heald accountable as will all guilty parties. Your charter shall be placed in the Addercrest library.
9.) If a dispute arises between two people it may be settled in a fair duel. The duelers must see the Town Clerk about aquiring a duel contract. The participants must agree on the terms of the duel. The town clerk will endorse the contract as a witness, then a noble must endorse this agreement and must oversee the running of the duel. The duel must happen in a public square. Upon completion the Noble shall make sure that the terms agreed upon are met.
10.) If noble, you are permitted to build and maintain an army in order to ensure the saftey of your lands. However, each month you must make a report to the King about the statistics of your army. Also the King at any time may call for your army to go to war, as a noble you must lead your army to war.
Tax Laws (2nd Tier)
1.) Privatly owned Alchemy Labs must pay a tax of 1 gold a month.
2.) Offical Guilds must pay a tax of 1 gold a month.
3.) Estates (whether they are noble or not) must pay 5 gold a month.
4.) Money owed will be taken directly from bank accounts if one exists.
Illegal Activites of Addercrest (3rd Tier)
Acomplice
This is defined as aiding someone in the committing of a crime. The accused is treated as if they had commited the crime themselves.
Assault
Assault is defined as the attacking of another person or persons without just cause. The victim may choose to waive the prosecution of the accused.
Attempted Murder
Attempted Murder is defined as the attempt to kill another person. The victim may choose to waive the prosecution of the accused.
Bribery
Bribery is defined as paying soldiers, nobles or higher ups of Addercrest in order to get out of a crime or around a law.
Conspiracy
Conspiracy is defined as any action taken by a peron or persons which compromises or has intent to compromise the integrity of the Kingdom of Addercrest.
Contempt
Contempt is defined as disobedience or disrespect towards the King, the Head of the Aetherian Order, Nobles of Addercrest, visiting Nobles or monarchs to Addercrest, or Soldiers of the Aetherian Order. The victim may choose to waive the prosecution of the accused.
Forgery
Forgery is the act of falsifying signatures on offical Addercrest documents.
Fraud
Fraud is the act of selling defective or fradulent wares to the buyer. The victim may waive the prosecution of the accused.
Illegal Alchemy Substances
You are not permitted to make, sell, or possess potions of Amnesia, Enslavement, or Obliteration.
Kidnapping
Kidnapping is defined as the forceful moving and or detaining of a person or persons against their will without just cause. This includes slavery. The victim may not choose to waive the prosecution of the accused.
Mockery of a Noble Title
This is defined as ridecule, deride, or disrespect a Noble, King, or the Head of the Aetherian Order.
Murder
Murder is defined as the act of killing another person without a writ of execution issued by the King or just cause. If the person is lifed and healed then the charge is bumped to attempted murder. The victim may not choose to waive the prosecution of the accused.
Necromancy
Animating Undead, or controling undead with the intention of attacking Addercrest or townships within Addercrest. The victim may choose to waive the prosecution of the accused.
Perjury
Perjury is defined as the falsifying of information towards the judge in a trial.
Petty Thievery
Petty Thievery is defined as taking items that do not belong to you without permission. The victim may choose to waive the prosecution of the accused.
Pretending to a Noble Title
This is defined as the False Representation of oneself to be a Noble, through writ, word, or color.
Slander
Slander is defined as spreading false information about a person without the person's written consent. The victim may choose to waive the prosecution of the accused.
Treason
Treason is defined as The involvement in action or assemblage which attempts to rebel against the state or its lawful governing body. A guilty verdict means a sentence of death until the accused dies their final death. Their head shall be removed upon their final death and placed on a pike. Their body shall be incinerated.
Trespassing
Trespassing is defined as entering a place you do not have a right to be in through forced entry or other method. The victim may waive the prosecution of the accused.
