Directions

From U.S. route 74 (Great Smoky Mountains Parkway), take Exit 67 to Bryson City. Follow the signs to Deep Creek Campground, which is about 3 miles north of the city on Deep Creek Road. The road dead-ends just past the campground at a parking lot. This is the same parking lot used for the walk to Deep Creek. The trail begins from the west end of the parking lot.

Description

From the parking area, follow the trail up a gradual slope towards Juneywhank Falls. On the way to the falls, you pass a beautiful cascade that is almost as nice as the falls itself. Juneywhank Falls is actually a series of drops, with the highest single drop probably about 30 feet high. A bridge crosses over the stream about halfway up the falls. When I was there, the mud on the trail was so slippery that it was virtually impossible to make it up to the bridge. The view from the bottom was so nice, though, that it didn't even matter. The walk to the falls is only about 1/3 mile long, and takes less than 15 minutes.
