As mentioned previously, the inclusive term “weres” refers to all times of were creatures, not just werewolves. Mostly, all were’s can be fit into two catergories: werewolves and werecats. From that, they split into sub-divisions such as werelions, weretigers and such. They all have either the power to shape-shift, or have an uncanny physical similars to the animal, or both, and increased strength, speed and agility.
However, there are no werebirds of any sort, werefish, werereptilians, etc. One’s blood can be tainted with such, but that does not make his/her a were. They may have some physical or mental abilities of the animal their blood was tainted with, but they are still not a were. It is also possible that a werewolf or werecat of some sort has been tainted with another animal as well.
