The Eight Sabbats

Here you will find links to meditations, etc.,
for the Sabbats.

The Greater Sabbats, or Fire Festivals
are
Samhain, Imbolc, Beltane, & Lammas.
These are the Cross Quarter days-
the time of greatest power.

The Solstices and Equinoxes are the
Lesser Sabbats.
These are the hinges at the turning
of the Wheel of the Year.

Samhain:

We honor the Ancestors:
Ancestors of the Land where we live,
Ancestors of our Spiritual Tradition,
Ancestors of our Blood Lineage;
We remember
our Beloved Dead.

 Samhain:

Winter Solstice/Yule:

We celebrate the birth of the Sun
the return of Light!
We recognize the ever returning cycles
in our own lives.

Imbolc:

We sense the early stirrings
of the spring to come.
This is the festival of the great
Triple Goddess, Brighid,
Goddess of Poetry, Healing and Smithing,
Goddess of the Well and of Fire!

 Imbolc:

Spring Equinox:

A moment of perfect balance -
day and night, dark and light.
We seek balance and harmony in our own lives.

 Spring Equinox:

Beltane:

We celebrate the sacred mating
of the God and Goddess;
We dance the Maypole & jump the Bonfire!
We laugh and love,
play and feast!

 Beltane

Summer Solstice/
MidSummer:

Crops are planted, flowers are in bloom.
The Sun is at its height of power,
and begins to wane.
The Oak King gives way to the Holly King.

 Summer Solstice

Lughnasadh/Lammas:

First Harvest, of grain.
We give thanks for the harvest.
We mourn the death of Lugh, god of grain,
the Green God.
We know he will rise again in the springtime,
and we rejoice.

 Lammas:

Autumn Equinox:

The  time of balance
between dark and light, day and night.
Dark begins to overcome light -
we look within.
We celebrate Second Harvest,
of fruits and berries.
