QUOTE OF THE DAY
April 29, 2003: "They should drown" - Reek, on a pro java statement on the board
April 30, 2003: (Defiantly)"BULL SHIT! I've been this way my entire life!" - Ian, on being insane.
May 4, 2003: "Because you dropped your pants at Wallmart" - Jay responding Ian saying "Why am I the worst off?"
May 17, 2003: "I've hugged a bush" - Crazy Liz...say it out loud and you'll get it.
July 13, 2003...I think: "He had her at Schmutz" - Granger, on hell freezing over...I mean Cohen talking to "Janet" (I believe her name is Killi?...or at least pronounced "kee' lee")
July 28, 2003: "Winner: me
Loser: Julia, after requesting the hobo joke and receiving a particularly well told version with total run time of 26:30" - Cohen, on the best joke ever.
August 4, 2003: "Stop! Be an adult! Now go eat your raw cookie dough and be quiet." - Shari on cookie dough.
DAYS LEFT UNTIL MY BIRTHDAY
DAYS LEFT UNTIL IT'S 5 YEARS AFTER MY MOM SAID "IN 5 YEARS" IN RESPONSE TO "CAN I TAKE THE CAR TO THE GAME AND TAILGATE?" BE THERE!
Thats the sound of something finally boiling. You get one guess.
Other than that it's been a pretty good week! Saw the Wall, Pulp Fiction (Hammer...no, bat...no, Chain saw!...oo...wait...KATANA!), went bowling, played pool, went to museum. All fun stuff, even if my skills in all have greatly deteriorated. MOMA was okay too, full of bad jokes due to my aparently just entering the "I want sex" phase of life everyone else had and completed 2 years ago. Yeah, I'm two years behind up there, don't mind me, I'll catch up eventually...to where you are now...and still be 2 years back.
Erica's house rocked. My only major gripe was everyone leaving the kitchen leaving me alone in the kitchen for about 15 minutes cooking the meatballs, and then coming back in when they were done and I was free to join them. I think everyone liked the food, even with soy sauce added in.
Apparently there was a war started somewhere in here fought for some silly reason nobody remembers. *Shrug*
After that people went to watch a movie...I went to go to sleep. The night gets confusing from there in a manner that I don't quite get, but I'm not complaining about. I did walk downstairs to where ranger and Karen had been for about an hour, rather bluntly asked if I should leave them alone because yes, and upon hearing "no" stuck around (THE HORN!). Thing learned: My shoulder apparently feels like a boob. Otherwise...whatever, I'm tired and I think I have somewhere else I could be going.
My mom's back, Erica's back, and I had to change a flat...bah.
Sarah Greene has a live journal now...so go look at it.
Woke up, did laundry, started dish washer, got mail, began defrosting meat, put laundry in dryer, started 2nd load, turned over meat, got out flour and such, got out meat, made dough, opened dish washer, showered, folded dough, watered plants, started sauce, put meat in microwave again, put 2nd set of clothes into dryer, mixed spices into meat, put onto pans, started meatloaf...rested for first time in 4 hours. Most meat went into meatloaf, some went into attempts at pizza rolls and...pizza. Decent at best sadly :(.
So...now it's 8 and I've actually managed to kick back for the last hour or so. It's been a strangely enjoyable day doing stuff...I guess technically I played bridge today too. It's somewhat amusing that Gabe continued complaining about my "bad" bidding, including his misinterpreting my opening bids, a million times after I said "I don't know bidding convention." That all said...it wasn't terrible so much as I need to get better at the game. I think we got about 1800...even if Tino and Granger got 4000.
That all said and done...work at 9. Bah! Fun part of it all...I told Shari she had a ride home if she needs it (If you had to live in Rochester like I do, you'd understand the value of a friend with a car...THANKS MIKE!). Movie ends 11:30. Odds are she'd be on the 12:30 boat. That puts her back on the island at 1...right about the time I get off from work. THe only good thing about getting her is that I have to drive out by her house anyway to return Wario World...
Speaking of that, play it. Rent it first, but damn I'm getting that game later. IT WAS A SIDE SCROLLER!...mostly. You know the old turtles games and double dragon? Wario World is like those! I'VE MISSED THESE GAMES SO!
Later!
PS: Sports update exists.
You've all read about Rocky horor and everything important by now I think...whatever, here's something not useful.
Sunday 8am-11am
Monday 9pm-1am
Tuesday 9pm-1am
Wednesday ----
Thursday 6am-11am
Friday 9pm-1am
Saturday 6:30pm-11pm
Those are times you can bother me at Old Navy.
Now...other stuff...I'm running I think 2 campaigns for D&D on the Island. Alpha team consists of Gabe, Heather, and Matt Karen. Beta team consists of Joe, Freddy, and Jackson from church. (Lau)Ren will be on one of these teams. At least one of these groupd is likely to be *gasp* a day time thing. SO...if anyone's interested, yell at me.
Also, Thursday for the League of Extra-Ordinary gentlemen lead by Sean ConerIcantspell. Night.
First day of work = meh. Too many flies fell from the ceiling (don't ask me why) and didn't do much of anything, but I did get to use the head sets.
Also finally got a labbie assignment. I'm doing CS1, so I'm sorry to all 5 people who might read this hoping to see CS4 in that last sentence...as if 5 people read this...
Whatever, I need to finish this burger.
STATEN ISLAND, NY - In a new development that's shocking people everywhere, Jason Flynn of Staten Island has actually found a job.
"I was a little disgruntled when the call came," said Flynn, "seeing as they woke me up at 1PM. But otherwise I think it was a good call."
Jason was called in for a "class" on Wednesday from 2:30pm until 7:30. When asked what he'd wear, he said "They said jeans or khakis on the phone, but nothing about a shirt. Maybe that Michelle chick likes me..."
He expects to be fired by 3.
Sadly, this means Jason cannot make the 12:10 start for the Mets Braves bleacher game. Someone go in my stead and kill Larry for me.
Sarah's house = amusing.
Baseball game = fun.
Cristina's "4th" party = yes = if anyone can recomend a good but cheap psych school somewhere around NYC please do speak up.
Also known as, how long can I keep on bull shitting before someone complains? But first, on an unrelated note, what's with 2 people implying they were leaving very shortly to me tonight, then one complaining I said good night and the other not leaving? Sigh...
DMing. The art of complete and utter bull shit. I was very much thinking before that there'd be no real story to any of this, just...go out and kill these orcs I thought of! It'll be fun! But no, Heather wouldn't allow for that. She wanted to "role play." This is the strange art of wanting to live another life inside of the game world. As such, compromise was needed...and it worked semi-well. It's weird when one of the characters already has a back story and everything and you haven't even asked anyone for one cause it's everyone's first time playing D&D. So...
1 hour making Matt's character.
Another half hour (probably) throwing 3 ords at them and saying "fight them...this is how you fight them. Somewhere in there was also a "fuck, 1d12 damage? We can't have that..." That was not the last time a damage die was followed by those words (2d6+7?)
Also, shortly in, the LG God of stuff that the book said was for Paladins, was declared a Jew.
Whatever, I think it can work...I even spent an hour drawing up a world map. I got in an Ice field, desert, forest, lake, hills/mountains/volcano, and a coast line. Am I forgetting anything?
night!
This could also be called random notes...
T3 comes out today, there is a veiwing planned for on SI. If, for who knows what reason, you read this before noon and want to go, CALL HEATHER'S CELL! Either Heather at that, they're both in.
Shari has a Shari's Journallive journal now. Go figure.
I have an interview at Old Navy later today (later today meaning it's 3:30am now and it takes place at 11). Go me.
Good news: I spent the 5 necesary minutes learning how to make applets appear online, and I can make one appear reasonably well. Bad news: They can't do read/writes to other files...thus killing my brilliant scheme to allow people to comment. Bah!
Funny how the little things always make you snap, eh? Yeah, I stand by some of it, like the I don't like being asked random little favors when the asker has the same abilities (like someone IMing you asking you to look at website x for them because they don't feel like going), but yeah...Tomorrow night or something for that.
That all said...I've actually been able to sleep the past few nights. I donno why (yes, it's 3:30 now, but I'm up by choice). Maybe it's the whole needing to vent kinda theory...but alas, I can't go to that interview on no sleep. Night!
Weekend thing went well. Am now more comfident in Dungeon Mastering skizills. Must get actual game together....maybe Lauren Freddy Jackson Heather and who ever else...
I should also find the damn off switch on this thing. I want to hear nothing from that part of my head until the fall. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Be gone damn it!
On the other hand, I feel a bit more relaxed right now. For no reason either. Just...ahhh....
One on one interview this time on Wednesday. I guess I cleared round one!
Finished book 5. One of the better things about it, if something was going on in a chapter you didn't like, it usually went away by the next one. Otherwise...yes. I wonder if she thinks what happened in the book is supposed to be what Bush is doing here...hmmmm.....
Sadly however, the record for finishing Harry Potter books in under 24 hours didn't improve...it's now 3 and 2. Stupid graduation party and 50 pages...BAH!
On to book 4 of the Wheel of Time at last! This must be the most reading I've done like...ever. I've finished 5 books since getting back and I read 3 earlier in the year, so this has to be like a new record.
Well, I'll be around Thursday...I think, then Friday I'm off for the weekend. Later folks!
Hmm...is it that I can't sleep, or I don't want to sleep? But if I don't want to sleep, what do I want to do? I can't think of anything else. Nope, that isn't what I want to do, perverts. Besides, don't you think that in some point in the what, 4 or 5 years this has been going on I would have tried that by now?
No, this is a deeper thing, I fear. I think too much at night during the summer. It keeps me up. Don't ask me to not think, it won't happen. My brain's gears turn constantly (and do very little). This senario, that one, this thing based random fictional stuff. I almost did get to sleep tonight too. Aroung midnight I could have just stopped reading, not come online to chat with a few people, and just slept. Nah, I want to know too much about stuff for that. What stuff? Oh, chat with a few people, say what's up?, bother them about stuff.
Funnier still is that once I am asleep, I'll be damned if I have to wake up. dreams have been around a lot of late...not doing much to reveal psychie or whatever, just expanding. Well...no, they are revealing psychie. There was one where it went into what happened to Drizzt after he left his home and wandered into the vast Underdark (R.A.Salvatore's Dark Elf trilogy book 1), since I just finished it that night...but he did the thing I want to do most. So yeah...I kinda wrote (read: dreamed) his story in the form of what I want to happen to me...through him...or something. Yeah...that's all I want...maybe that's all I've ever wanted...
Someone to say "Good night" back...
...and typing doesn't count.
What happened since Wednesday you ask?
Thursday...nothing.
Friday...Met Yankee game! Jose and Mangan spent most of the game watching the bra-less girl they affectionately named "nipples", Mangan stole a box, and the bull pen still can't pitch. I almost got Cohen to eat his shirt. I must thank Mike again for them later :)...oh yeah, Mnagan owes Mike $16 for the ticket...
Saturday...woke up to incesent cries of "WHERE'S HARRY POTTER!!!" Noticing that the canceling of my bank card cancelled the order for some reason (or at least that's my best guess), the situation was promtly fixed. After sitting around feeling drained for a little after that, it was off to Tay's a little late...3 hours. Fun times, met this "Pete", and drove everyone home...except Gabe. Gabe left at around 11:50 or so. I left with everyone at 12:20 or so.
Gabe got home at 3:30.
After driving to Miranda's (getting off at the wrong exit, one close to Lex), Laura's, Lex's, waiting through 10 minutes of planning, going on the belt, getting off for el Greco, eating a Turkey burger and fries, and getting to Shari's, it was 3:30.
FUCKING LATE NIGHT FERRY SCHEDULES! screams everyone from SI reading this.
Sunday...nothing.
Monday...went to that free movie thing. See Granger's journal. Sarah was there, as was Jon Gilliam (the latter prompting the word "Whaaaa?!"), although I hardly talked to either of them. Sheela was...an interesting personality, and the rest of the gang was yes. The movie...I forget it's name...Muray and the Sundance Kid or something...yes I know I could look at Grangers journal to get this =P...was pretty cool! It just kept going and going for 2 hours or so. Good shit. Now if only the lawn didn't smell like shit and create large patches of wetness on me, it would have been a perfect night.
Tuesday, the day I'm writing this, featured an interview! Group style at Old Navy. I think it went decently well...It was more of an hour long conversation between 6 people about working. I managed to put in my two cents a decent amount of times, I think I was the third most talkative of the 5 candidates for whatever that's worth...plus I managed to bring out the sympathy factor when, as an "ice breaker", it was asked "What's your favorate flavor of ice cream?". Oh well, I'll know within a week I guess.
Ahh...a day where I can get some sleep...
Mail today? Huzzah! My new bank cards came in! (they were lost, I think I mentioned that...)
Back to relaxing..."Lauren, who's on the phone...Old Navy?!...::clears throat::....::clears it again::...Hello?...Yes...sure, I can come in next Tuesday...group interveiw, sure...ok, bye."
Outstanding news! Plus the sausages are almost defrosted...::cook cook::...ahhh....a good day was today!
Now for the problem...Next Tuesday at 1pm is said group interview (posted here partially so that I have another reminder)...I need clothes...and to stop using elipses and use single periods. Oh well...I'll be back on later. mom needs on now. Later!
Foods I eat...
Veggies are all taken in as part of the pizza/noodle combination. Fruit's taken in as pineapple pizza or juice...or the tomato sauce (ITS A FRUIT!).
I donno...it's 3:20 and I can't sleep (DESPITE HAVING BEEN DEAD ALL DAY) so I got hungry and though "hmm, I should explain views on food." Thus this mess...I think it works. Like on the starch, the occational other stuff to help (mainly proteins for muscle and water because yes), and that's it. I donno...I just figure eat more carbs, they get used quick and have that whole less fat thing going on. Yeah...whatever. I ran out of chips and chex. Later.
Saw my cousin Stephen this weekend. He's kinda cute...he's the best trumpeter in his (4th grade/first year) band, and he's still afraid to attack a boss head on in Mario SunShine lest he *gasp* lose a life.
Also saw my uncle. He claimed my resume is "going around". Whatever...the more places I apply to at this point the better.
D&D to start soon hopefully...the RIT edition. While the $8 toll to drive to Tino's seems daunting, when I think about it, if I take someone else with me and we split the toll, that's $4 each, the cost of the subway round trip anyway.
Dr. Strangelove was a silly movie. I already knew US Generals were rediculous people!
Enter the Matrix I know is a good game for the movies in it...can't seem to want to play it alone though...the whole point of renting it was "Hey Lauren, you've gotta see this game!"...oh well. FF2 can wait a little.
That's all.
Nothing happened this week...nothing. I played FF2, wandered around with Shari for 2 days, and applied for a job at Old Navy. Also put the air conditioners in today and rented Enter the Matrix. I didn't know it was available on Game Cube...stupid Blockbuster didn't have that version or the Animatrix in, only the PS2 version (3 racks full!).
I wandered by Game Stop today too (One of three video game stores to say "Sorry we're not hiring"). Being there reminded me that Frozen Throne comes out soon, as does Wario World and Mario Golf on the cube. Mega Man X7 comes out on October 3rd too. Ahh...it's nice to know some good stuff's coming out...I should really look into this a little more too. It's been way too long.
I also would like to play D&D with someone this summer. You all know where to find me...later.
