Three Short Stories About Friday

I figured this would be the best title to give this so....

TFC blurb of the day: Dustbowl....I was HW guy, just respawning.... a crazed Scout (not allowed when I tried to slelect it as an attacker...stupid admins) tried to cap, shot down at the last possible moment! Then a medic and a pyro came. Myself and an engi (the engi and medic are bots) bravely stood in their way shooting like crazy for 5 seconds before they finally ran over the engi to win.
In another round, there was about a minute left in the game, third section. I was a sniper with the flag. In front of me was a Pyro. The Pyro was going nuts with his flame thrower running forward, and I was an ARing mad man! We made it from the begining of the section to the bridge before being shut down.
Also, I capped due to being the amazing teleporting spy! They started a kick vote on me after that :) (option 2 won with 10/12 votes, Mr. Cab will not be kicked)

Random thing found: From the depths of my room under my bed....a '91 Emperor Bonds All Star card. Nice :).

Mike Abriano had a trumpeting instructor...said instructor and the rest of the NY Phil Harmonic had a free outdoor concert today, so I had no choice but to take Shari and go. We sat by this cool dog....see the quotes :).

So that was my day. Mass amounts of pizza to be eaten somehow tomorrow. Fare ye all well.

In The Event Of Divine Intervention...

I got headphones today. Decent ones for once. Now, I was at the mall at Shari when I got them, so of course I ended up with a lot of free time when she stumbled upon the shoe section from hell store or something, so I did the only thing I could do to amuse myself: read the warrenty.

As it happens, my headphones aren't protected against acts of God under warrenty. Seriously! Should God come down and say "Thy headphones shalt be shit", Sony won't give me a new pair! What the fuck?! I want my headphones protected against everything! DAMN YOU SONY!

Politics Suck

Just thought I'd say that. Especially about baseball politics, cause that's what I pay the most attention to, but the rest of them do too. I don't know how much money the owners have, but it's probably a lot. Hey, they own teams. I also don't know how much money the players have, other than it's a lot!

Things that need to be done:

1. Individual & Team Salary Cap. Figure about $100 mil for now for the team. $40 for a player. That way you can spend a lot of money on one player, and still have some left for the rest of the team. That and have something like a 30% tax on the portion of salaries that's over it, and that could go up if you stay over it going into a second year. And maybe, just like inflation is measured against the 1987 Dollar, this cap should work like that. Have it be 100 million 2002 dollars.
2. Minimum salary. An interesting idea for competitive balance....if you don't spend the money, you suck and should be punished. Put in a small grace period here though, especially because of free agency. Then of course the team gets good palyers the people come and more money comes in...we hope. Figure $50 mil.
3. That thing where some of ticket sales money goes to the visiting team. Helps share the wealth...but I can't see this as being a big amount. Some teams simply won't draw at all and some just always will.
4. Lower the cost of Hot Dogs! If Hot Dogs cost less people are more willing to buy more at a game and thus you get more money. You can't tell me those things cost a lot, especially when there's a guy in a cart selling as good if not better hot dogs for a buck. Charge two bucks a dog and the world will be happy.
5. That all said, the players have to stop being greedy too. If they wern't so friggen greedy, then we wouldn't be in this mess to being with! $10 mil a year for 10 years gives you $50 mil after taxes, plenty to live off of. Plus then they get bonuses and endorsment money.
6. And if all this doesn't work, we replace MLB with the NFL'sB. Quarterbacks will pitch and if you run out of the baseline, we'll let the line backers loose.

That all said, real politics suck too. Like the city never giving education more money and getting rid of recycling. And like Bush saying Israel can't take out a terrorist leader while we bomb the shit out of Afganistan. At least I think the Hamas is a terrorist thing. Hypocracy needs to stop, and greed needs to end. Once people stop being greedy, money will stop being a real issue, and the masses will rejoice.

Many of you may notice I just took down a lot of links to pages that never updated anyway...in fact, there are 5 line journal links left, plus Gabe's page for some reason. So yeah...Time to start looking through this HTML book...hey, I found the thing for centering a table's contents! ::Runs off to screw with Links table::
