Long Island Expwy westbound at Van Wyck
Photo Gallery: LIE

exit 22
We're just east of the Flushing Meadows interchanges, with the Van Wyck up next. Just behind the elevated Van Wyck are remnants of the 64-65 Worlds Fair, the New York Pavilion. Those who saw the movie "Men In Black" will recognize the towers. Traffic heading for either 108th Street or the Grand Central will be exiting as soon as the LIE passes beneath the Van Wyck.

Between the Van Wyck and Grand Central, this westbound ramp touches down into the LIE from the southbound Van Wyck. Traffic that already exited the LIE, for both the Grand Central Pkwy and 108th Street, are on the lanes to the right of the ramp. The bridge just ahead is a walkbridge connecting parts of Flushing Meadow Park, dating from the 64-65 Worlds Fair days. The apartment houses of Forest Hills beckon in the hazy background. Unfortunately, I never have my polarizing filter handy.
