BENJAMIN FRANKLIN SHAW IN THE CIVIL WAR

(Benjamin) Franklin Shaw, of Sebago, Maine, age 20, enlisted at Sebago on Sept. 29, 1862, as a Musician, Company K, 25th Regiment, Maine Infantry (a nine months regiment). He was promoted to Private. He was mustered out at Portland, Maine, on July 10, 1863.



(Benjamin) Franklin Shaw was born in Sebago, Me., on Nov. 6, 1842, the son of Abraham S. and Martha (Nason) Shaw. In Saulk Rapids, Minn., on Aug. 19, 1871, he married Anna Tileston Lufkin, born in N. Yarmouth, Me., on Oct. 14, 1848, the daughter of Jacob Butler and Lydia Brown (Baston) Lufkin. Benjamin and Anna had nine children: Lizzy Allen (born Apr. 11, 1874), Lydia Bell (born Apr. 27, 1876; died Dec. 15, 1876), Willard Watson (born Feb. 11, 1878), Frank Lufkin (born Jan. 29, 1880), Edgar West (born Dec. 29, 1881), Louise (born Sept. 22,1884), Anna (born Jan. 25, 1886), Ralph Gilman (born June 10, 1891), and Ruth (born June 10, 1891; died Sept. 28, 1891). B. Franklin Shaw died in Clear Lake, Minn., on Apr. 13, 1918, and his wife Anna died in Clear Lake on Jan. 14, 1929. They are buried in St. Cloud, Minn.

(Benjamin) Franklin Shaw was a member of John A. McKelvey Post 134, Grand Army of the Republic, in St. Cloud, Minn.
