Snickerdoodles

1/4 C butter or margarine
1/4 C shortening
3/4 C sugar
1 egg
1 C and 6 Tablespoons all purpose flour
1 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
1/2 Teaspoon baking soda
1/8 Teaspoon Salt
1 Tablespoon Sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

1) Heat oven to 400 degrees
2) Mix thoroughly butter, shortening, 3/4 C sugar, and the egg in a large bowl.
3) Blend in flour, cream of tartar, soda, and salt.
4) Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls.
5) Mix 1 Tablespoon sugar and the cinnamon; dip top of balls in mixture
6) Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet
7) Bake 8-10 minutes or until set
8) Immediately remove from baking sheet
