Autumn Breezes

Materials:
Construction paper,
scissors,
feathers

- Call a circle to discuss Autumn Breezes.

- Spark interest with questions such as:
How does a breeze feel? How does the wind
feel? If you were an autumn breeze, what
would you like to push, lift, or blow
against?

- After the breeze discussion each child
chooses a feather and a sheet of
construction paper.

- The children roll their papers in half.
They stand up, drop their feathers, and
create a breeze by waving their papers.
Who can keep the feather up?

- Try it with - a leaf, a cotton ball, a
balloon, a kleenex, a paper cup, paper,
fan. Which falls quickest? Tell the
children that they choose one to share
experience at home.

Leaves of Gold

Materials:
Gold Spray Paint,
Black construction paper,
Leaves,
crayons or colored pencils

Procedure:
Take a nature walk before this project
or have children bring leaves from home.
Take children outside and have each of
them place the leaves as they would like
on the paper. Next, assist them in
spraying over the leaves. The overspray
will create a leaf outline. After the
paint dries, the children can color in
the leaf with crayons or colored pencils.

GLITTER PINE CONES

Dip pine cones into a bowl of white glue,
and then dip them into a bowl of glitter.
Let them dry, and hang them from the
ceiling by a string.

TOOTHPICK TREE

Have the children make a tree by gluing
toothpicks on a piece of paper. Use a
sponge and green tempera paint to add
leaves to the top of the tree.
