Coruscant Civil War: I couldn’t decide what to play and so ended up putting together decks at the last minute, around 10PM on the night before the tourney. I decided to simply reconstruct my ISB Space deck, with Probe Droids and Oh Switch Off’s to protect them. For LS I had no idea what to do, so I just started putting cool cards in and came up with an odd MWYHL/Space deck. Well, “whatever” I thought, my DS should do good so if my LS gets a win then cool. I showed up about an hour early to see that a lot of other people had too. TJ and Wojtek were there with buddies, many Syracuse players were there, the only area not represented was Albany, who showed up with little time to spare. I figured I would give it my best shot and maybe bring a rating back up a bit’.

Game 1: My LS vs. Chris Ruddy’s (1521) Dark Deal/Sabbac deck.

Chris is from around here so I have some experience playing him. I got a quick start finishing JT1 and got out Kiffx with a loaded Falcon, Cap’n and EPP Leia. I put out Order To Engage and Electrobinocs and got the cards I needed. He came down with ships but my destiny draws made short work of him, I let Obi wreak Havoc with destinies of 7 and used On The Edge to retrieve. He only got off 1 Sabbac which he used to win a Falcon of mine. He had down some sites and Mosep, who managed to kill off the rest of my On The Edges. He brought down Vader and Saber to stop Obi, but was Barriered and went into an Uncontrollable Fury. My damage + retrieval was greater than his force drains. Full win by 20

Highlights: My LS deck actually worked!

Low lights: None.

Game 2: My DS vs Mike Castner’s (1567) Endor MnT with Ewoks.

His deck set up fast but my UC spies slowed him down. He put down an X-wing with Landing Claw to stop my drain, however it was met with Homing Beacon on my turn. He tried to run but was met with Gravity Shadow, then he drew like mad to get a Houjix, no luck. On my turn the X-wing faced D*AS and the Exec, then I played Limited Resources and drained him out next turn. Full win by 33.

Highlights: I love Gravity Shadow!

Low lights: Waiting around for 50 mins for the next game to start.

Game 3: My LS vs Chris Praskac’s (1913) Y4 Occ deck.

Well, this was an interesting game. I got a fully loaded Falcon to his Y4 quickly, along with OTE. He drained some on the ground and put Exec and Y4 Occ down. He kept losing force, first form OTE, then from my 3-7 Battle Destinies. In one battle I creamed the Bus, Exec and about 4 pilots. Along with my constant retrieval I just held out longer than he could. Full win by 13.

Highlights: A smuggler, a princess and a freighter defeating the might of the Empire.

Low lights: None.

Game 4: My DS vs Brian Terwilliger’s (2048) Revo deck.

I started with SP for the activation, big mistake. In my opening hand I got the D*, Kiffex and Fondor, sweet! I got down Exec to Fondor, he responded with GlinG1 and Landing Claw. Then he got down the Falcon with some EPP’s to Kiffex. On his first drain I lost my Homing Beacon, d’oh! I got down 2 more systems and realized my Exec’s only hope of getting to Kiffex was the D*. He got down RlinR1 and Tantive and started hitting me at the D* too. I took some early damage and tried to come back with ships. I managed to inflict massive damage but nothing his Savrip and a handful of mains couldn’t absorb. My Gravity Shadow was met by sense. He wore down my ships, and my early losses to force drains made recovering impossible. He got a firm grip in space, despite only deploying 1 Revolution all game! Full loss by 20.

Highlights: Lots of battling.

Low lights: Realizing I made mistakes when I reconstructed my deck, no Masterful Move’s, having the wrong systems etc…

Game 5: My LS vs. Brian Terwilliger’s (2048) HDATJ deck.

We both got extremely slow starts, he couldn’t find a site for Vader, I couldn’t find my space stuff. We both bit Visage for a while until I cancelled it. I finally got Kessel out, along with the Falcon and realized my 4th site, which I needed to do my tests (because of Broken conc.) was the bottom card in my force pile but I couldn’t get it because I needed the force for Rebel Barrier. We tangled a bit and he ended up with the Bus, Exec, 2 Dreads, couple pilots and EPP Fett there, I Hyper Escaped and set up my plan for a comeback. I had a Falcon, Coruscant, Han, and Leia in my hand so I figured I would let him kill it and I would re-deploy, however I drew Punch It and I Know, so I figured what the heck. He battled, I drew 7 destinies, I took down everything but a Dreadnaught and the Bus. I lost Han and Leia but quickly replaced them. He got down a 2/2 site with Vader and stick, along with another Visage. Now I was losing massive force, luckily On The Edge was doing a good job keeping me in it. He put down some guys to absorb damage and battled, unfortunately he didn’t expect another Punch It and Legendary Starfighter. On my turn I deployed Uncontrollable Fury on Vader. He tries to pick up Vader but I show him that he can only do that when the Objective is on the 0 side. I managed to get in 2 drains at Kessel, which meant he could no longer afford to force drain, thanks to Battle Plan. I played On The Edge but Secret Plans was out and I miscounted my force so I didn’t get to retrieve. Full win by 7.

Major Mistakes: Brian was angry at himself when he realized I shouldn’t have been able to FD at Kessel because Leia was on the ship, I was angry at myself for losing to Visage. What do I mean? He was playing HD, I killed his Executor and continued to lose force to Visage, despite the fact that all Executor sites should have been lost! Argghhh! I guess we all make mistakes.

Highlights: LS Prevails again, wow.

Low lights: Veeeeery slow start…

Game 6: My DS vs Bart Robinson’s (1743) RTP deck. He flipped his objective quick and took over some sites. I blocked most the drains and drained some myself, but he retrieved most of it with Reflection and Figgy. I had the big E and a DSSD at a system, he decides to battle it with the Rebel Leaders and Tanitve. I lose the DSSD, he loses the Tantive. He saves 2 force that I figured was for Hyper Escape, I deploy 2 SD’s and battle. He pays the 2 to deploy the…Falcon as a react!? He thought it was the Spiral and keeps saying to himself I “messed” (changed to suit all ages ;o) up as he forfeits the ships and loses like 20 more. From there it was pretty quick. Full win by 31.

Highlights: Space domination!

Lowlights: None.

Final score: 10 (+84)

I ended up taking second, which is waaaaay better than I expected. Our Team, Team Britney also took second. Team Twigg took 1st, while Chris Terwilliger took first individually with a score of 10 (+97). TJ took 3rd, along with his Team, team "You Are Beaten." All in all very fun, I got to talk to a lot of great, and very cool, players. I also escaped the wrath of Wojciech DS Endor Ops deck, 1 destiny draw per battle!? Though I think I could’ve taken TJ’s dark deck ;o) So now I’m left to wonder, what do I do with my decks?

I feel proud going 3-0 with a LS deck that uses Threepio, yes Threepio. Also, I played 2 games against Syracuse players, 2 against Albany players, and 2 against Philly players. Good variety.
