"A lesson in humility"

Not a lot happened before the tourney so I'll jump right into the games. I was playing ISB space for dark and MWYHL Mains and adders for LS.

Game 1: My DS vs. Steve Kurilovitch's HBX

I never thought I'd see the day when my dark deck would lose to HB, but it happened. His X-wings just completely overwhelmed me. Organized Attacks kept all his X's alive, while my forces were demolished. My gravity Shadow failed! And basically he killed me with 2 drains of 1 every turn. Full loss.

Game 2: My LS vs. Steve's CPI deck.

Well, it went like this, I got out a drain 2 site quick and drained. I did a lot of damage and got some more sites down, then he blew everything up. First Bespin, then Dagobah, then Tatooine, Yavin, Endor. I had a fully loaded up Falcon at his D* but couldn't drain because of CHYBC. I activated 1 a turn, he Broken Concentrationed it. I had 30+ cards left, my drains had him down to very little so it was timed out. Timed Win.

Game 3: My DS VS. Louis Moody's Tat drain deck.

I blocked all his drains with undercover probots and drained him out in space. The Falcon and crew was met by Lateral Damage. Full win.

Game 4: My LS vs. Josh Paterniti's ISB Space deck.

I drop a site and guy, he drops an UC spy, repeat 3 times. I drop fully loaded Falcon and draw 9 destinies, he drains at the 4 systems where the Falcon isn't. Full loss.

Game 5: My DS vs. Chris Ruddy's MWYHL/EBO.

I beat him on speed and got my space drains set up quick. His ships couldn't handle my ships and drains. Full win.

Game 6: My LS vs. Tony Vigliotti's RalOps

He starts BFHI, and I have no patience. So I drop a main or 2 and they die. Repeat a few times until Obi is crushed by 25+ power, thanks to Elis Helrot. Full loss.

One of the worst tournies in a long time, not just because I haven't gone below 4-2 in 2 years but also because there was almost no interaction. All games were futile for me or my opponent, possible exception is my game against Josh where there was at least a lot of (big) battles. Well, I guess this shows me I can't just throw decks together and expect to win, it definitely took my ego down a notch and has made me just all the more ready for the next tourney. So I'll be back, and with a vengeance.

Cheers,

Jon "sux" Schultz Nobody knows me ;o)
