With games becoming noticeably slower thanks to drain cancellers, reducers and things like Battle Plan, people usually plan on having the time to set up their deck and counter your opponents damage. People are no longr prepared for consistent damage every turn, that is one of the reasons that HDADTJ decks with their continual force loss via Visage work so well. In my Falcon deck I found that battling and draining rarely won me games, but rather Uncontollable Fury, Order to Engage, and Legendary Starfighter. People had tons of ways to handle my drains, but were powerless against my "direct damage" cards.
Too often people forget about ways to make the opponent lose force without battling and draining, instead they do exactly what the opponent does and try to limit force loss by draining while maximizing their own. Yet, often the key to victory is not by playing the opponents game, but building your own and surprising them with it.
