DCA (National) / IAD (Dulles) /  BWI (Baltimore/Washington Int'l.) / WAS (all area airports)

Kinkead's , 2000 Pennsylvania Ave.  The most fabulous restaurant I've found in DC.  Been there three times; the monkfish and the scallops were the two most outstanding dishes I had.  Tammi (DCA/BWI) was also into the scallops.

Thai Square , 3217 Columbia Pike, Arlington, 703.685.7040.  FINALLY!  I finally had very good Thai around here!  Quite happy with it (but I still miss Sripraphai).

La Colline , 202.737.0400, 400 N. Capitol St. NW (M: Union Station).  I've been here twice.  Probably the second tastiest nice restaurant in DC (after Kinkead's).  (Thanks to John and Greg for recommendations for this place.)

Matuba (Arlington/Bethesda), 703.521.2811, 2915 Columbia Pike, (also in Bethesda ).  Good and reasonably-priced!

Cafe Asia (DC/VA), 1134 19th St. NW, Washington 20036, (202)659-2696; 1550 Wilson Blvd. (Rosslyn Metro), Arlington, VA 22209, (703)741-0870.  Tasty pan-Asian spot.  I don't normally trust an Asian restaurant which tries to cover more than one country, but this place is pretty good.

Appetizer Plus, 1117-B North 19th St., Arlington, 22209 , 703.525.3171.  All-you-can-eat sushi.

Zed's , 1201 28th St. (M St.).  Very tasty Ethiopian and a nice atmosphere to boot.

Pho 75 , 1721 Wilson Blvd. (Quinn), between Rosslyn (Blue/Orange) and Courthouse (Orange) Metro stops.  Cheap and good soup.  I order the chin only (well-done beef brisket) since I find some of the other cuts of beef funky.  Their whole vinegar (sliced up) in vinegar is tasty, too, provided you don't plan to be kissing any non-onion-lovin' people that night (or the next morning).  Closes 8:PM.  Other locations: 1510 University Blvd. E. (New Hampshire Ave.), Langley Park, MD, 301.434.7844; 771 Hungerford Dr. (Jefferson St.), Rockville, MD, 301.309.8873; 3103 Graham Rd. (Rt. 50), Falls Church, VA, 703.204.1490; 382 Elden St. (Herndon Pkwy.), Herndon, VA, 703.471.4145.

Chef Geoff's , near American University.  Delicious food, good wine list, not too pricey (esp. if you go for their early (4:30-6:00) $20 three-course dinner).  Note: Second visit: Not so great, and it wasn't worth the schlep.

Red Sea , 2463 18th Street NW, Adams-Morgan area of DC, 202.483.5000. One of my favorite Ethiopian places in DC.

Chipotle, several locations (including Rosslyn and Dupont Circle).  Good burritos, but strangely white rice in them.  And not hearty white rice - plain, weak white rice.

Burrito Brothers , various locations, but there's a hot guy who works at the 1815 M Street location.

Caravan Grill, 1825 18th St. (T St.) NW, 202.518.0444.  Decent dinner buffet - around $12.  $7.95 for lunch buffet (haven't been for lunch).

Rosemary's Thyme Bistro , 1801 18th St., 202.332.3200 (M: Dupont Circle).  Jahna liked this place, so I took a fun group there one summer evening.  If you order a bottle of wine before/by 7:PM (certain days?), it's half-price.  I have to find my notes on what we ordered...  I remember the shrimp appetizer wasn't so great (I think they strangely call this hot dish Shrimp Cocktail in the dinner delivery menu book).  And our nice waitress' name was Danielle.  (Also a location in Clifton (?!).)

Kuna , 1324 U St. (13th), 202.797.7908 (M: U Street (Green line)).  Tasty appetizer of bacon and mushrooms (not breakfast-cut bacon... different).  Chicken dinner salad was okay.  Evan (DCA) introduced me to this place.  Apparently if there's a wait for a table (or even if not), you can get a little (shot?) glass of wine.  If you like it, then order a bigger serving later!

Kawasaki , 410.659.7600, 413 N. Charles St., Baltimore.  I enjoyed their Spicy Tuna Roll and Spider Roll.  (Either the Kawasaki Roll or the Baltimore Roll had cream cheese which I just find too odd an ingredient in sushi.)

The Boulevard Grill, 703.875.9663.  Had a tasty burger here.  Our waitress did not have a clue about the wines; apparently the management doesn't have the waitrons taste the wine.  Stupid!

Cafe Berlin , 322 Massachusetts Ave. NE.  I had a pleasant pork dish here, but I really wanted to try their sauerbraten.

I hear Delhi Dhaba in Clarendon is good for cheap Indian.

Little Viet Garden in Clarendon (I think) is supposed to be good along with Atami on Wilson in Clarendon.

Santa Fe Cafe in Rosslyn is nothing extraordinary.  I couldn't detect that it was much different than low-priced Tex-Mex anywhere else.

I tried Tara Thai (if that's the place south of Ballston station) and was not impressed.  Go to Thai Square!

Guajillo on Wilson in Arlington participated in the Entertainment restaurant coupon book, and then they pulled out after the book (and their advertisement) was published.  Very tacky.

Saigon Rendezvous, Wheaton, Maryland.  I was just told by Scott in FEB99 that this place closed.  I'll miss that strange glow the curry shrimp had in the black lights they had turned on for karaoke!

Old Europe, Wisconsin Ave.  I don't recall anyone in our party particularly liking his/her food.

Louisiana Express, Bethesda.  I'm still trying to forgive one of my friends in New Jersey for sentencing me to this place once!  Blech...
