March 2nd
A very weak cold front was to pass over Long Island during the early morning of March 2nd. Some snow flurries or snow showers were expected. Nothing very much. When I saw the radar at 8 PM on the 1st, an area of light snow in western New York was moving towards the SE. It looked like it would reach Long Island and we'd get at least a dusing. When I saw the radar at 11:20 PM, the snow was almost to Long Island, and extended quite a ways back to the NW. This looked like more than a dusting, maybe an inch or two. It started snowing very lightly @ 12:15 AM, and continued until 11 AM. One & 1/2 inches of snow, but since the roadways were not that cold, and the snow very light in falling, the roads were just wet. It was a pretty scene in the morning. Temps, under cloudy skies, rose to 37 degrees in the afternoon, melting this sneaky 1 1/2" of snow.
