A Jewel Story
A Jewel Story

I've been a Jewel fan since 1997, when I saw her play live. I was blown away by the honesty and emotion that I found in her lyrics. Her words touched a place deep inside me, never before had I been so affected by song lyrics. I found a little bit of myself in each song

After seeing Jewel play at Kuhl Gym at SUNY Geneseo, I had to learn more. After surfing the web, I came across the EveryDay Angels (EDAs). I was thrilled to discover other Jewel fans. We help each other find info about Jewel, share stories, and trade tapes. Most recently, we donated money to Clearwater Project. Together, we try to make a difference in the world.

With the help of several EDAs, I've built a collection of Angelfood, unreleased recordings of Jewel's music. It was through angelfood, that I learned the true depth of Jewel. Her albums are wonderful, but to hear Jewel live is an experience like no other. Her personality shines through. There are many different sides to Jewel, playful, serious, angry; she experiments with country, folk, and rock. Her songs make you laugh and cry. And you know that someone out there understands what you feel.

I've seen Jewel perform twice more since that February in 1997. I saw her play at Jones Beach, Spirit World Tour, '99. I was also invited by a fellow EDA to be in the audience at the taping of Sessions at West 54th. This was an incredible experience. In this intimate setting, we were privileged to hear songs from Joy(before it was released) as well as a few acoustic favorites. It was a night I'll never forget.
