Potpourri Ornaments

Here is a idea that the younger members of the
family can make. Potpourri Ornaments made from
household items.
MATERIALS FOR ORNAMENTS-
- Clear plastic cups in a variety of sizes
- Potpourri
- Tulle Net
- Aleene's Designer Tacky Glue
- Hole Punch
- Scraps of lace, ribbon, and other craft and sewing
trims
- Small silk flowers
DIRECTIONS-
Fill the cups with potpourri. Cut a piece of tulle net
a little bigger than the opening on the cup.
Spread glue around the outside rim of the
cup. Center and place tulle over cup opening. Wrap
edges of tulle down sides of cup and press into glue.
Let dry. Trim away excess tulle.
Take the trims and lace and glue them around the
opening edge of the cup. This will give a finished
look to the tulle. Glue ribbon, lace, silk flowers,
and other trims to ornaments as desired.
Use a piece of ribbon and make a loop. Glue the two
ends of the loop to the bottom of the cup.
This will make a hanger. Decorate around the base of
the hanger with trims and silk flowers.
Lacey hearts

Lacey hearts can be done by your smallest crafter.
These hearts can be used as Valentine's
Day cards or as a delightful way to
decorate your house or classroom. I would
recommend using red strong poster board for the hearts
and a contrasting colored ribbon. Shoelaces
could be substituted for the ribbon too.
This will make it easier for the younger
children to weave and see their success.
What you need:
- Red poster board ( pink and white would be nice,
too)
- Ribbon- this will be used to weave around the
- edges of the heart.
- Hole puncher
- Drawing paper
- Pencil
What you do:
On white drawing paper draw a heart. The easiest way
to draw a heart so that it's even on both
sides is to fold the drawing paper in half and draw
half the heart on the folded edge. Then cut
following your half traced heart. When you
open the paper your heart will be perfectly
symmetrical.
Using your paper heart, trace the heart onto the
poster board. Cut the heart out. Using the hole
punch, start punching holes around the edge of the
heart. The line of holes should be about 1/2 inch in
from the edge of the heart.
Take the ribbon or shoelace and thread or weave
through each hole. When the 2 ends of the ribbon meet
tie a bow.
The heart can now be decorated with sparkles, glitter,
markers or any way a child desires. If
it is to be a card it can be signed on the back
