Graduated from Ithaca College in New York before moving to Los Angeles to forward his acting career.
Before being cast for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, David worked at many part time jobs including, parking cars, painting houses, and handing out towels at a sports club. During this time he managed to get a guest role on Married...With Children in 1995, where he played Kelly's biker boyfriend, Frank. The role was a one time appearance, and it wasn't until David was spotted walking down a hollywood neighborhood that he got his big break.
He had been walking his lab mix dog, Bertha Blue, through the neighborhood when he was spotted out the window by an agent who noticed him. He was signed immediately.
David now lives in Los Angeles, California, with his wife Ingrid and two dogs. One of these dogs, Bertha Blue is the one who David occasionally credits his career to. Bertha is a Lab mix with, "one ear that goes up, and one ear that goes down". She was named due to David's love of the band Grateful Dead. Well, that's where the Bertha part came from. The blue came after Bertha had been lost in Griffith park in LA. The people who found her had named her Blue, and David decided to keep it.
