The Unity Against Violence Project of Central New York, to achieve its Mission and intended purpose, embraces the following:
1. Securing legislation that protects everyone, including gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered persons and people living with AIDS/HIV, from intolerance and discrimination and acknowledges the equality and rights of all to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness 2. Securing hate crimes laws that include provision for GLBTH persons 3. Pursuing just and swift prosecution of any and all persons who commit hate crimes or any violent or illegal acts against others on the basis of difference. 4. Condemning violence committed in general, but especially on the basis of intolerance and difference, real or perceived. 5. Opposing policies, practices, propaganda, and legislation which foster or endorse discrimination or intolerance, in any way, against any individual or segment of society. 6. Countering misrepresentations and distortions of facts with truth and accurate examples 7. Increasing public awareness of hate crimes and violence committed due to bias and intolerance. 8. Increasing awareness of the policies and practices which foster hate crimes and violence due to bias and intolerance.
In pursuit of these objectives and goals, the Unity Against Violence Project of Central New York and its members will not, under any circumstances, engage in or support any of the following practices:
1. UAVP-CNY will NEVER encourage, endorse, or commit violent acts for any reason.
2. UAVP-CNY will not violate or disregard the civil or legal rights of any person or legitimate organization.
3. UAVP-CNY will not engage in, endorse, or in any way promote practices or policies which call for or cause discrimination and /or intolerance.
