8 Schuylerville   inc. 9 Joe Cerrone L.G
8 Fort Ann   inc. 10 Brian Floyd Schy
8 North Warren   inc.

Greenwich looks to be the early favorites as they return three runners that were under 18 minutes at Saratoga last year. Granville is the defending champion and have good numbers but they'll have to have some improvements to challenge. Hadley-Luzerne has a solid top two but need help from the rest of the team. Individually, Greenwich's Ethan Allen has about 30 seconds on the field and is the favorite for the league title. Hadley-Luzerne's Brian Roder and Chip Cheney and Granville's Scott Reynolds will take up the challenge of defeating him.

Argyle Scots

Sectional Place:  12th place - Class D

Top Returnees: Luke Hoffis-Sr., Dan Lagoe-Jr.

Outlook: At the moment, Argyle only has three runners on their varsity team so they'll have to work on filling their team. Hoffis is the only returnee that was under 20 minutes last year...Finished 12 in Class D last year and will probably be around the same if they can field a full team

Corinth Tomahawks

Sectional Place:  incomplete - Class D

Top Returnees: Ben Townsend-Jr., Josh Arnold-Jr., Robert Crist-So.

Outlook: Only return three last year so they'll need to rebuild. Townsend is the only runner that is under 20 minutes so they'll need some improvements...Incomplete last year after field a full team most of the year. Will have to fill their lineup before worrying about sectional place...Had a good number of modified runners that should help them out this year.

Fort Ann (don't know school nickname or colors)

Sectional Place:  incomplete - Class D

Top Returnees: Ben Harrington, Gunnar Gramlich

Outlook: Only had two runners last year...Gramlich did some road racing this summer so he should be improved...Need to concentrate on filling up their lineup, though Harrington should be under 19 minutes and Gramlich under 20 minutes this year.

Granville Golden Horde

Sectional Place:  4th place - Class C

Top Returnees: Scott Reynolds-Jr., Josh Wilbur-Jr., Corey Chapin-Jr., Chris Burch-So., Joe Frandino-So.

Outlook: Defending Wasaren champs were hit hard by graduation losing 5 out of their top 7, but they do have good depth a return a full team but they will have to improve their times...Reynolds is their only runner under 18 minutes and the rest of the team is over 19 minutes...Will have a tough time with Greenwich if they don't improve their times but should still get 2nd in the league...Finished 4th in Class C and should be near the same position this year, maybe up a notch to 3rd with a good race.

Greenwich Witches

Sectional Place:  6th place - Class C (Class D this year)

Top Returnees: Ethan Allen-Sr., Ron Cutie-Jr., Jake D'Acchille-So., Adam Frisbee-Sr., Havard Moelmog-Sr.

Outlook: Should have the top team in the league returning three runners under 18 minutes...Moelmog is an exchange student and should be their number four runner...Moves back down to Class D after finishing 6th in Class C last year...I see them finishing around 4th or 5th, if the 4th and 5th runners can drop their times then they could move up to 3rd, maybe even 2nd.

Hadley-Luzerne

Sectional Place:  4th place - Class D

Top Returnees: Brian Roder-Sr., Chip Cheney-Sr., Adam Maslonka-So., Ryan Corlew-So.

Outlook: Only return four  runners but should have a couple of modified runners moving up...Roder and Cheney are a solid one-two with both of them under 18 minutes and Maslonka just over 19...Need a drop in time from their 4th runner and some help from new runners...Finished 5th last year but will probably drop a little, probably 6th or 7th.

Hoosic Valley Indians

Sectional Place:  incomplete - Class D

Top Returnees: Adam Karweil-So., Ryan Karweil-So., Aaron Waykus-Sr.

Outlook: Ran incomplete last year and only return three runners, had some modified so they may fill in their lineup...Karweil brothers are a good top two and I believe they are capable of running better this year...If they can fill up their lineup they can possibly finish in the middle of the pack in Class D after running incomplete last year.

Lake George Warriors

Sectional Place:  6th place - Class D

Top Returnees:  Joe Cerrone-So., T.J. Parker-So., Ben Boucher-So., Joey Del Toro-Sr., J.Ross-Sr.

Outlook: Losing state qualifier Alex Lanfear to graduation is a big hit but return the rest of their team...Cerrone was under 18:30 last year but 3rd trough 5th runners were over 20 minutes...Could possibly move up if they get some improvements...Finished 6th in Class D last year but without Lanfear's low score in the mix they may have a tough times repeating.

North Warren   (don't know school colors or nickname)

Sectional Place:  incomplete - Class D

Top Returnees: none

Outlook: Don't return any varsity runners from last year BUT had a very impressive modified team last year...Not sure if they can field a full team this year but the modified runners from last year that will be moving up will be a good start in bringing the program up.

Schuylerville Black Horses

Sectional Place:  incomplete - Class C

Top Returnees: Brian Floyd-Sr., Austin Iuliano-Jr.

Outlook: Only return two varsity runners from last year's incomplete team but had good number in modified last year which should help filling in their lineup...Floyd was under 19 minutes last year so he's a good number one to work off of.

Tamarac Bulldogs

Sectional Place:  11th place - Class C

Top Returnees: Josh DeGiulio-Sr., Jordan Martin-Jr., Sam Estabrooks-So., Andy Derby-So., Dan Messia-Sr.

Outlook: Has strong numbers with eight varsity runners but times need to drop as DeGiulio, who's been under 19 minutes, is the only runner that's been under 20 minutes...Had a couple of young runners last year so with a year under their belt and, hopefully, some running in the summer and they should have a good improvement this year...Finished last out of all of the complete teams in Class C last year so there's only one way for them to go.

4 Lake George   inc. 10 Kate Kearsing Gran
4 North Warren   inc.
4 Tamarac   inc.
4 Waldorf School   inc.

Defending league champion, Argyle, has the top six runners in the league returning and is the overwhelming favorite to repeat as most teams will be working on filling their lineups. Granville has the most depth out of the rest of the teams and looks to be the favorite for second place. Schuylerville should challenge them if they can fill their lineup. Individually, Caitlin Lane is the defending champion and should repeat. Argyle teammates Hannah Davidson and Emily Fung should be her challengers.

Argyle Scots

Sectional Place:  1st place - Class D

Top Returnees: Caitlin Lane-8th, Hannah Davidson-8th, Ashley Fung-8th, Emily Fung-8th, Klara Varosy-So.

Outlook: Defending Class D State Champions are easily the favorites to in the league with their first four runners all under 19 minutes...If they have a weakness it would be with their depth but  with a couple of last year's modified runner coming up, that should take care of the problem...Nationally ranked 22nd in The Harrier's pre-season poll and is the favorite to repeat as state champions.

Corinth Tomahawks

Sectional Place:  incomplete - Class D

Top Returnees: Karen Coghill-Jr.

Outlook: Ran incomplete last year and only return one runner...Had a full modified team last year so that should help their numbers this year...Have to concentrate on rebuilding this year.

Emma Willard Jesters

Sectional Place: incomplete - Class B

Top Returnees: Hailley Fitzgerald-Sr. Tess Marstaller-Jr.

Outlook: Incomplete last year and only return two runners...Fitzgerald was just over 22 minutes  but team needs to fill the lineup before worrying about league and sectional standings.

Fort Ann (don't know school nickname or colors)

Sectional Place:  incomplete - Class D

Top Returnees: None

Outlook: Didn't have any runners last year, varsity or modified so it's time to rebuild.

Granville Golden Horde

Sectional Place:  9th place - Class C

Top Returnees: Kellie Kearsing-So., Samantha Wilbur, Sarah Murchinson-Sr., Jessica Germond-Sr., Sarah Buckus-Sr.

Outlook: Have the depth over the rest of the field to make them the early favorite for second in the league...Kearsing was under 22 minutes last year but their 3rd through 5th runners were all over 24 minutes and need to drop their times...Had some good modified runners which should help them out...Finished 9th and Class C last year and I can see them moving up a couple of spots this year if everyone runs to their ability.

Greenwich Witches

Sectional Place:  incomplete - Class C (Class D this year)

Top Returnees: Maya Seegers-So., Adrienne Weaver-Sr., Emilie Simoneau-So.

Outlook: Incomplete last year and return three this year...Had three modified runners that should help them fill up their team...Could challenge for second or third if they have a full team...Move back down to Class D this year, if they have a full team they will probably finish 5th or 6th.

Hadley-Luzerne

Sectional Place:  incomplete - Class D

Top Returnees: Jane Scanlan-Jr., Melissa Gustin-Sr., Jenn Wyman-Jr.

Outlook: Incomplete last year and return three runners this year...Had six runners on modified so they could possibly fill up the team...Scanlan was at 22:30 last year so she a good start with the rebuilding process.

Hoosic Valley Indians

Sectional Place:  4th place - Class D

Top Returnees: Jessica Shuster-So., Val Brock-So.

Outlook: Lose their top three runners including state qualifier Autumn Karwiel...Two returnees were just over 23 minutes last year...Had three modified runners last year so filling the team is possible but will probably need some more bodies than that.

Lake George Warriors

Sectional Place:  incomplete - Class D

Top Returnees: Suzie Sanderspree-Sr.

Outlook: Incomplete last year and also lose state qualifier Heather Mitchell to graduation...Only return one runner who was over 24 minutes and had two modified runners last year...Goal for this year is to fill the lineup out.

North Warren   (don't know school colors or nickname)

Sectional Place:  incomplete - Class D

Top Returnees: Kate Kearney-So., Megan Murtaugh-Jr.

Outlook: Return the two runners they had from last year and both were over 24 minutes...Unfortunately they didn't have any modified runners either so they may have trouble having a complete lineup.

Schuylerville Black Horses

Sectional Place:  3rd place - Class C

Top Returnees: Marissa Ainsworth-Sr., Ali Ainsworth-Jr., Kayla Lewie-So.

Outlook: Return three this year including returning state qualifier Marissa Ainsworth...Three that they have are solid runner and if they can fill their lineup with some strong modified runners they had last year then they can have another good season...3rd in Class C last year but probably won't hold that this year if they're complete, probably around 5th.

Tamarac Bulldogs

Sectional Place:  incomplete - Class C

Top Returnees: Abbey Rivers-Sr., Celia Dillon-Sr.

Outlook: Only return two runners from last year...Rivers is a good number one running around 22:30 last year...Had seven modified runners last year so that can give the varsity team a boost this year if they come up.
