Patroon Conference Boys Last Year's Team Champion: Chatham Last Year's Individual Champion: Nick Sarro (Chatham) Team Predictions Individual Predictions
Maybe a surprise pick to some people but I give Ichabod Crane the edge based on their depth. I have them over Chatham 28-29 so it's almost a dead heat between the two schools. If Chatham can pick up someone to help out their depth it can push them over the top to defend their league title. Berlin Mountaineers Sectional Place: 8th place - Class D Top Returnees: Craig Levens-Jr., Pierce Larson-Sr., Zach Locke-Jr. Outlook: Only return three runners but Levens and Larson are a good top two...Could fill up their team with a couple of good modified runners, if that happens then they could move up a notch or two, time will tell. Cairo-Durham Indians Sectional Place: 9th place - Class C Top Returnees: Chris Statham-Jr., Victor Nelson-Jr., Dave Martinsen-Sr., Dan Halter-So., Ben Kiley-Jr. Outlook: Return five runners with three of them under 20 minutes...Fourth and fifth are both over 22 minutes so they need improvement if they want to move up in the league. Catskill Cats Sectional Place: 8th place - Class C Top Returnees: Dan Marsh-Sr., Zach McIlhenry-So., Tom Prendergast-So. Outlook: Only return three runners so they will have to rebuild. Marsh is the only one under 19 minutes so they need a couple of new runners and some improvement from their second and third runners. Chatham Panthers Sectional Place: 1st place - Class C Top Returnees: Nick Sarro-Sr., Dan Bartholomew-Sr., Steve Day-Sr., Brendan Sirlin-So., Adam Rugen-So., Ricky Stall-Sr. Outlook: Sarro is the defending league and Class C champion and Bartholomew and Day are both under 18 minutes...Can repeat as league and sectional champs but their depth can hurt them if they pick up an injury...Another runner can bolster the team. Update: after writing this I was told that Sirlin and Rugen are not running but they do have a couple of new runners, even with the new runners this is going to hurt them. Greenville Spartans Sectional Place: incomplete - Class C Top Returnees: Ken Hardin-Sr., Jeff Fox-Jr. Outlook: Only return two runners so they need to rebuild...Hardin is a returning state qualifier and is a good start to pick the team up. Hawthorne Valley Sectional Place: 10th place - Class D Top Returnees: John Palmer-So., Tristan O'Neil-Jr., Alex Schifano-Jr., Warren Palmer-Sr., Ben Ocean-Sr. Outlook: Have good numbers, J.Palmer is under 18 minutes but rest of the team is over 19 minutes...Team is an improvement from last last year should move up in Class D and can move up in the league with some improvements this year. Ichabod Crane Riders Sectional Place: 7th place - Class B Top Returnees: Geoff Phelan-Jr., Scott Schneider-Sr., John McDermott-Jr., Jeff Vona-Jr., Chris Jennings-Sr. Outlook: Their big plus is team depth and that's what gives them the edge in the league...Four runners under 18 minutes is a big plus and they have room for improvement with their fourth through seventh runners. Maple Hill Wildcats Sectional Place: 5th place - Class D Top Returnees: Tim Durkin-Jr., Adam Butterworth-Jr., Mike Warner-Jr., Mike Lilkas-So., Andrew Krug-Jr. Outlook: Durkin is a returning state qualfier and they have good numbers, but their third through fifth runners are over 19 minutes and need to drop their times if they want to move up in the league and Class D.

Returning State Qualifiers in bold Once again, Chatham is going to be awfully tough to beat this year as their top three return and look to be the top three in the league. Ichabod Crane is their closest challenge as most team are trying to fill up their lineups. Individually, look for Jessica Oehlke to repeat as champion.
Berlin Mountaineers Sectional Place: incomplete - Class D Top Returnees: Abby Ingraham-So., Lana Salamanca-So., Kim Hughes-So. Outlook: Ingraham is a good number one runner but they ran incomplete last year and only return three runners ...Might get some help from last year's modified to fill up the team...Could move up to fourth in the league with a full squad. Cairo-Durham Indians Sectional Place: 10th place - Class C Top Returnees: Brittany Kubler-Jr., Anna Eberhard-Jr., Leanna Wilson-Jr., Rachel Millman-Jr., Jessica Edwards-Sr. Outlook: Return five runners but no one has broken 25 minutes on the Saratoga course...Need some big drops in time if they want to move up in the league. Catskill Cats Sectional Place: 7th place - Class C Top Returnees: Heidi Brown-Sr., Kristi Spencer-Sr., Laura Carrozza-Jr., Crystal Miranda-So., Amanda Jenkins-Jr. Outlook: Return six runners but 4th through 6th runners are over 27 minutes...Top 3 runners run in 23 minute range and need to improve if they want to move up in the league...Will also have a tough time moving up in Class C. Chatham Panthers Sectional Place: 2nd place - Class C Top Returnees: Tiffany Coon-Sr., Lauren Nelson-Sr., Joanne Brinkerhoff-Jr., Jessah Price-Jr., Jen Kuzler-Jr. Outlook: Defending league champions have the top 3 runners in the league and seven runners under 22 minutes...Also favorite to win Class C championship but will want some lower times from their 4th and 5th runners to be competitive at states. Greenville Spartans Sectional Place: incomplete - Class C Top Returnees: Maija Ibo-Jr., Stephanie Marquardt-Sr., Kate Conlon-Sr. Outlook: Only return three runners from last year's incomplete team...All three runners are over 24 minutes...Returning runners need improvement and also need some new runners to help rebuilding process. Hawthorne Valley Sectional Place: incomplete - Class D Top Returnees: Claire Sansariq-So., Emily Maynard-So. Outlook: Incomplete last year and only return two runners...Sansariq is a good start to rebuild the team...Did have a complete modified team last year so those runners may help the varsity team this year. Ichabod Crane Riders Sectional Place: 11th place - Class B Top Returnees: Christine Graham-Jr., Kristi Hacker-Sr., Shylah Weber-Jr., Liz Gambee-Sr., Eleanore Pienta-Sr. Outlook: Clear number two in the league but will have a tough time catching Chatham for league title...Three runners under 23 minutes but need improvements from their top five if they want to move up in Class B. Maple Hill Wildcats Sectional Place: incomplete - Class D Top Returnees: Kristina Saar-Jr., Jess Hamlin-Sr., Gillian Roach-So., Jenna Jaswecz-So. Outlook: Have a strong top two with Saar and Hamlin...Other returning runners are over 23 minutes and need to drop their times...Only return four from sectionals but have good numbers coming out which will help them in the league and in Class D.
