Guilderland, Burnt Hills impressive at McQuaid

The Guilderland boys brought home the AAA unseeded team title with 143 points, just ahead of St. Joseph's of Buffalo (176 pts.) Colonie finished 5th in the same race with 226 points as Kyle Audi finished in 4th place with a time of 15:40.65. The Burnt Hills boys finished 4th in the AA seeded race with 156 points, just missing out on 3rd place by two points. More importantly for the Spartans was that defending Class B state champ and current #2 in the state, Honeoye Falls-Lima was in 6th place with 189 points. So would can hope for a good jump for Burnt Hills in the state rankings. Shaker boys were in the AAA seeded race and finished 12th with 308 points. Only top five individuals in each race were posted so I don't have all of the individual results.

On the girls side, Guilderland finished a strong 4th in the AAA seeded race with 157 points, Just behind NYS Class A #12 Ithaca (134 pts.) and NYS Class A #11 Fairport (140 pts.), Also in the race behind Guilderland were NYS Class A #19 Clarence (6th, 175 pts), NYS Class A #15 Orchard Park (7th, 180 pts), NYS Class A #10 Hilton (8th, 182 pts), and NYS Class A #16 Irondequoit (10th, 229 pts). So there's a good possibility of an eighth Section 2 Class A girls team in the state rankings after this weekend.

Bethlehem finished second with 96 points and Shaker was a close third with 103 points. All three teams beating fifth place Cicero-North Syracuse, the NYS Class A #2 team (c'mon, no one really bought that around here, did they?) Colonie was lead by the trio of Anna Jankowski (5th,18:49.2), Eryka Perreault (7th,19:11.0), and Nicole Soblosky (8th,19:17.5). Ashley Couch (17th, 19:35.0) also finished in the top 25.
