Current song: Camper Van Beethoven - "Take the Skinheads Bowling"

Website that has nothing to do with running: Homestar's Pumpkin Carving Contest

So it took me about a month to get my second one out. Sorry it took so long but I'm sure you like the rest of the site updated first. Actually this is quite fun to just babble about anything I want. I'm known to babble. I enjoy babbling. This is most I've ever wrote the word "babble" in my life so you can tell I'm babbling. On to the other stuff....

Hope everyone has turned into oddtodd fans now. For those of you who have, he has a new Halloween cartoon up that's pretty funny. Speaking of websites, the website that I recommend above is pretty funny, filled with flash cartoons. Strongbad's emails are the best in my opinion. If you're bored some day I suggest you check them all out. Still speaking of websites, it looks like my domain name is finally back up and running again. I never did get a reply on why it wasn't working. Oh well, it's working now so who cares.

Sectionals are only three days away now. Should be some interesting races going on. Some things look pretty slam dunk but many of the individual races should be pretty competitive. I should have my predictions up tomorrow. Hopefully it's not too busy at work tonight.

Speaking of my predictions, that leads me into my rankings. Truth by know, I hate doing rankings. Not because of people complaining about how they feel their team should by 5th instead of 6th and all of that other stuff, I work customer service for Time Warner Cable, I get complaints daily so it rolls right off of my. What I hate is how stats constantly conflict with my gut feelings. Many times I look at results and I think that even though Team A beat Team B in this meet, I just know that Team B is a little better. Usually I'm right, sometimes I'm wrong. Usually I go with the stats and put Team A ahead and let Team B prove themselves. Sometimes I'll go the other way but that's usually if Team B was missing someone at the meet or something like that.  I also put much more emphasis on invitationals then dual meets. It's invitational scoring that decides sectional, state, and federation champions so I feel that the rankings should reflect that. If two team are really close then the dual meet is usually the tiebreaker. Also, if two teams are at an Invitational but are in separate races, I usually use aggregate times. One last thing about team rankings. The rankings on this site are the opinion on one person, yours truly. I've never though of myself as a ranking guru or anything like that. There are so many teams that some teams even fall through the cracks sometimes. Don't take them too seriously, that's why you can see my rankings and the state rankings conflict at times. Okay, I've got that off my chest now.

Good luck to everyone at sectionals. Looks like it's going to be another lousy day. Pouring rain and wind at Manhattan, drizzle at Schuylerville, and rain at Troy to complete the trifecta. Hasn't been a good October but it shouldn't really matter because everyone is running in the same conditions.

I'm going to stop now. One final note, happy birthday to my friend Mark. I've known Mark since we were 5 years old and I still, twenty-seven years later, can't remember the exact date of his birthday. All I can remember is that it's somewhere between October 27th and 29th. It really bugs me because, besides him, I'm really good at remembering people's birthdays. Does anyone else suffer from this? Is it treatable? Let me know if it is.
