Patroon Conference Boys Last Year's Team Champion: Chatham Last Year's Individual Champion: Nick Sarro (Chatham)
2001 State Qualifiers in bold. Chatham looks tough since they have the top three runners in the league returning. Ichabod Crane has better depth but it will be tough for them to break up Chatham's front three. Hawthorne Valley could be a dark horse. Berlin: Sectional Place: 9th place - Class D Top Returnees: Rory Ingraham Sr., Craig Levens So., Dustin Shamblen Sr., Pierce Larson Jr. Outlook: Berlin will be returning one of their stronger team with four good runners. With a couple of runners that should be coming up from modified they could move up in the league, maybe up to third. Cairo-Durham: Sectional Place: 7th place - Class C Top Returnees: Chris Statham So., Dan Lacitignola Sr., Victor Nelson So., Ben Kiley So. Outlook: Return four from last year. Need to get some depth and some improvement, .500 record should be a good goal, but three sophomores returning is a good start. Catskill: Sectional Place: 8th place - Class C Top Returnees: Jason Ribera Sr., Larry Farrell Jr., Dan Thurber Jr., George Ross So., Justin Auffant Sr., Outlook: Seven come back from last year's team but the times need to drop to be competitive in the league. Another team that should be shooting for a .500 record. Chatham: Sectional Place: 1st place - Class C Top Returnees: Nick Sarro Jr., Rick Dunbar Sr., Dan Bartholomew Jr., Tom Matthews Sr., Chase Callahan Sr., Steve Day Jr. Outlook: Defending Class C champs return six from last year including the top three runners in the league and everyone knows when you take the top three you don't lose. Probably need to be a little deeper to be in the Class C race but can still challenge. Greenville: Sectional Place: incomplete - Class C Top Returnees: Ken Hardin Jr., Dave Leonard Sr., Carl Hegney Sr. Outlook: Only return three from last year's sectional squad but should be able to fill their lineup. Hardin is a good number one but fourth and fifth on the team will need to step up if they want to move up in the league. Hawthorne Valley: Sectional Place: Did not run - Class D Top Returnees: Caleb White, Gavin Blakenship, Warren Palmer, Ben Palmer, Alex Schipano Outlook: Return some tough runners and had a good modified team that should help out their depth. Need a little more improvement to challenge for second in the league. (I didn't have the runner's grades so I may have included some graduates in their lineup.) Ichabod Crane: Sectional Place: 8th place - Class B Top Returnees: Scott Schnieder Jr., Mike Sweeney Sr., Geoff Phelan So., John McDermott Jr., Eric Margan Jr., John Vona So. Outlook: Best depth in the league as they return nine from last year and also had a good modified team. Schneider will have to break up Chatham's top three if they want to challenge for the league title. Maple Hill: Sectional Place: 10th place - Class D Top Returnees: Tim Durkin So., Matt Krug Jr., Ben Harris Sr., Travis Gladd Jr., Ben Croft Jr., Jim Fox Jr. Outlook: Good young number one runner with Durkin and good depth coming back with nine returning from last year's sectional team. second through sixth runners run in the low nineteen's but they will have to improve on that if they want to move up.

Returning State Qualifiers in bold Once again, Chatham is going to be awfully tough to beat this year as their top three return and look to be the top three in the league. Ichabod Crane is their closest challenge as most team are trying to fill up their lineups. Individually, look for Jessica Oehlke to repeat as champion.
Berlin: Sectional Place: incomplete - Class D Top Returnees: Abby Ingraham Fr. Outlook: Didn't have any varsity runners last year at sectionals. Will have at least one runner this year but they will definitely be rebuilding. Cairo-Durham: Sectional Place: incomplete - Class C Top Returnees: Anne Eberhart So., Rachel Millman So. Outlook: : Return the only two runners that they had last year. Need to fill the lineup. Catskill: Sectional Place: 7th place - Class C Top Returnees: Cori Wase Sr., Ashley McGlynn Jr., Heidi Brown Jr., Krista Spencer Jr. Outlook: Return four out of five from last year. Should be able to fill the lineup. Wase is a good number one but rest of the team has to move up if they want to challenge. Chatham: Sectional Place: 6th place - Class C Top Returnees: Jessica Oehlke Jr., Lauren Nelson Jr., Tiffany Coon Jr., Susan Cerny Jr., Molly Conway Jr. Outlook: Defending league champs return the top three runners in the league and should repeat. Need some improvement from their fourth and fifth runners if they want to challenge for the Class C title. Greenville: Sectional Place: incomplete - Class C Top Returnees: Kristen O'Halloran Sr., Stephanie Marquadt Jr., Kate Conlon Jr., Alyssa Thomas So. Outlook: Return four from last year's team. Should add enough to have a complete team but times have to improve if they want to move up in the league. Hawthorne Valley: Sectional Place: did not run - Class D Top Returnees: None Outlook: No varsity runners last year but had a pretty good modified team so they should at least have some bodies on the line this year. Ichabod Crane: Sectional Place: 10th place - Class B Top Returnees: Krista Hacker Jr., Shylah Weber Fr., Christina Graham So., Liz Gambee So., Liz Malys Sr., Elenore Pienta Jr. Outlook: Very good depth and should be improved from last year with six returning from last year's sectional team. Chatham 's top three will be tough to break up though if they want to challenge for the league title. Maple Hill: Sectional Place: incomplete - Class D Top Returnees: Jesse Hamlin Jr. Outlook: Only return one runner from last year's sectional taem so they will have to rebuild this year.
