Perhaps the most important reason for India's present state of affairs was one man Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Indian Nation. A man who believed in non-violence or ahimsa, he led India's foremost movement for Independence against the British.

Another person who had just as much influence as Mahatma Gandhi was Mother Teresa, a woman of the people, who dedicated her whole life to serving humanity and mankind. No person seemed to have such an appeal on the masses as Mother Teresa did. Her selflessness and and concern for the underprivelaged made her the role model of millions of hearts around the world.

One of the other things that India is famous for is its Movie Industry and cine stars. Studies show that the Indian Movie Industry is second only to the biggest industry in the world, Hollywood, both in terms of number of movies produced and viewers. India has also had Miss Worlds and a Miss Universe. Models like Aishwarya Rai, Sushmita Sen, Diana Hayden and others have brought the fashion industry to the forefront. And in order to bring about the glory of the nation, India has so many newspapers and magazines like Times of India and The Hindu for daily news, The Economic Times and Business Today for the businessman, Filmfare and Cineblitz for the movie enthusiast.
