Square's '99 Lineup

Square, the company that is well known for the Final Fantasy Series has a little list of goodies that will be coming out in a short period of time. The list consists of 5 absolutely fantastic looking games. Enough chit-chat, let's get right into them.

1. Final Fantasy VIII

Final Fantasy VII was just a little taste of FFVIII. Probably the most anticipated PSX game ever, looks for sure to be a must have for all PSX owners. With jaw dropping real life characters, new playing elements and strategies, it is no wonder what all of the fuss is about. Definitely the best looking game from Square. (They all look good!) Look for it at around late September/Late October.

2. Ehrgeiz

Square takes a giant leap in a good direction for fighting games. Well known FF characters such as the one and only Cloud Strife, to kick the living crap out of eachother. Full 3D fighting environments and smooth, arcade style combos make this game look incredible. Also, there will be several secret characters and levels. Look for it in May 1999.

3. Final Fantasy Anthology

For those of you who liked the old NES RPG style games are in luck. This game has two former games - FFV and FFVI. FF Anthology brings us of what to be considered the best RPG storylines ever into one game. Look for it probably around November 1999 (Somewhere around there)

4. Chocobo's Dungeon 2

This is a dungeon-based RPG starring the beloved bird-like creature that we all know from the FF series. The first CD was not released in North America, but this is due sometime in early 2000. Look for it in the first quarter of 2000.

5. Chocobo Racing

The PSX needed one of these. Square will be delivering a Mario Cart/Diddy Kong Racing game. It's going to be a fun racer type game with many of Square's popular characters. Here's the list of some of the characters and their vehicles.

Basically, you collect magic stones. Different stones give you different powers. The more you get of the same stone, the higher the power becomes for that power. Before racing, you can one ability that include extra grip, fire boost, magic up, keep magic stone, steal, protective barrier and one that allows you to fly.

Man, Square sure looks like they have it going on for this year. All of these titles look very promising. (Source-PSX IGN)
