Mod Chip Disaster
Apparently, Squaresoft has produced an anti-mod chip format to prevent American gamers from playing the Japanese version of Final Fantasy 8 in the US. Anyway, who would actually want to play Final Fantasy 8 in Japanese? I mean c'mon you wouldn't even know where to start in a Japanese speaking game unless of course, you understood Japanese.
Approximately 1 day later, a group of hackers or rebel programers designed a counter to this anti-mod chip format, an anti-anti-mod chip and now you can play the Japanese version in the US with the use of this new illegal mod-chip.
