Dragon Quest VII

It may sound impossible but there was once a series of RPG's bigger than the Final Fantasy series. Enix's DragonQuest series sold 20 million units altogether worldwide while before FFVII Squaresoft had only shifted 18.5 million units of it's series.

Now Enix are ready to unveil DragonQuest VII which will be the first DragonQuest game for the PSX. So it looks as if the battle could continue as it and FFVIII fight for the title of best RPG.

Not much is known about the game except that some of the characters include Hero (who is the hero of the game), Mary Belle (the feisty daughter of the town's leading fisherman) and Keefer Gran (the Prince of Granestado and mentor of Hero). It's also expected that the game will be the first of the series to be 3D. Although, there are now only sketchy details released about the game, it's been installed at the top of the Most Eagerly Awaited charts in most Japanese mags for the last year and a half.

All eyes are on Enix to release more details but this can only be good news for Sony. They now have two of the greatest RPG series' in the gaming world and everyone knows that RPG's really matter in Japan.
